Excellent, a Must See
One of the best movies of the year! Incredible from the beginning to the end.
View MoreGreat story, amazing characters, superb action, enthralling cinematography. Yes, this is something I am glad I spent money on.
View MoreThis is ultimately a movie about the very bad things that can happen when we don't address our unease, when we just try to brush it off, whether that's to fit in or to preserve our self-image.
View MoreA young widower returns to his hometown to search for answers to his wife's murder, which may be linked to the ghost of a murdered ventriloquist. Dead Silence has it's fair share of flaws for sure and it's far from being one of Director's James Wan's but it also has some thrilling things to say about it such as a very creepy vibe including dolls and a creepy old lady plus the acting was pretty decent as well. The twist although very clever and disturbing i did expected a bit more as well plus the cinematography was very good with the pale colors. (7/10)
View MoreIf not for the incredible cinematography and final moments, the dead would've been completely silenced.Where to begin? Well, the beginning is a good place to start as the first half is enjoyable, including the wham-bam awesome opening. But, sadly, from the climatic intro, the movie progressively gets worse. It seems this movie could've been served a few more drafts and expanded on ideas. Not to mention a slightly bigger budget because when the CGI hits the fan, it's just that: sh|t.Sookie's brother takes on Chucky's cousin while its owner, Freddy, gets revenge. That's the gist, and there's not much more.Sadly, as much as I loved Ryan Kwanten in the secondary role in True Blood, he CANNOT carry a full movie. He is perfect in a secondary role. And Donnie "not the real" Wahlberg can't either. Neither can his sidekick electric razor. Again, with such a well shot movie and effective, albeit Sooo-Saw, finale, it's too bad this isn't a recommendation. It totally wasted some charming puppets to terrorize us. ***Final thoughts: But, I had to give it a shot. I am, after all, beginning my Sawathon tomorrow: I'm watching all original seven Saw films leading up to the latest and eightest chapter. If it's Halloween, it must be seen.I think that's how I saw that.
View MoreOut of all of the creepy doll movies I've seen, this is one of the better ones thus far. This one really defines creepy to a whole new level. What makes the movie shine, for me, is the sound design or lack thereof. The suspense is definitely the main factor of the film; it really keeps you on the edge of your seat, for the majority of the time. The director, James Wan, really does show that he can direct a really good, effective horror movie. Take a look at Insidious and The Conjuring; two excellent horror movies! Dead Silence is a very underrated supernatural horror movie; not amazing, but not mediocre. If you have any desire to watch this movie, I recommend you watch the unrated version because it's way more horrifying than the theatrical version.
View MoreIf you want a 90's horror made recently, this is what somewhere close."Was it interesting?" The basic story was alright if just a retooling of a classic plot. Some of the characters were asking to die, but not all.1.5 out of 3."Was it memorable?" The doll was mostly disappointing, just there to be creepy. The antagonist was rather cliché.1 out of 3."Was it entertaining?" Most of this movie was just bad writing with even worse dialog. Special effects were fine though cheap.1 out of 3.Starting with 1 (because the bad writers want it that way), 1 + 1.5 + 1 + 1 = 4.5 This is definitely a 4. This is a movie that was made 2 decades too late.
