Strictly average movie
Instead, you get a movie that's enjoyable enough, but leaves you feeling like it could have been much, much more.
View MoreThis is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.
View MoreIt's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.
View MoreI love the Death wish franchise i really do & have watched them all so many times it's crazy & Paul Kersey is my favourite movie character ever!!! So you know i love these crazy Vigilante Thrillers, now part 2 is EASILY the most disturbing & sickest with the vile over long rape scene that is horrible but i also can see that this scene can show us why this gang of scum so needs to be exterminated by Kersey!!! I won't go on about the plot or story but let's just say Bronson is out for revenge & hunts this gang of sick rapists down in the very gritty & grimy streets of los Angeles that oozes with darkness & menace, Bronson is very good as always as the silent avenger but to me he got much better as he got older as the character & actor especially in my favourite Part 3.Death Wish 2 is gritty & extremely dark, raw & brutal,a proper GRINDHOUSE revenge Thriller
View MoreWhile I wasn't overly impressed with the first "Death Wish" movie from 1974, I still went on to watch the rest of the movies in the franchise. It turned out that "Death Wish II" was almost exactly the same story as in the first "Death Wish" movie. With the exception that it takes place in California instead of New York. But this time it is his daughter who dies, whereas it was the wife in the first movie.Sure, "Death Wish II" was fun to watch, but don't expect to be intellectually challenged in any way by director Michael Winner. Now, I will say that it was hilarious to watch Lawrence Fishbourne in this movie, especially since he looked like a gay futuristic skater.
View MoreArchitect Paul Kersey once again becomes a vigilante when he tries to find the five street punks who murdered his daughter and housekeeper, this time on the dark streets of Los Angeles. Death Wish II once again has Charles Bronson going against some thugs and this time on the streets of L.A, now let me start with the good stuff which is Bronson as Kersey who is once again excellent and badass in the role plus that fight scene in the Hospital was dope, the rest of the Cast does a great job too and the action is nicely done and the soundtrack is very 80's style. As far as flaws go? The film at times feels like it's going to end and it doesn't that happens somewhere at the last 30 to 32 minutes before the movie ends plus i hated how his daughter died it was both kinda heroic and dumb and the whole rape and women getting killed does kinda bother me with all of those 5 movies i mean Schwarzenegger and Stallone never seemed to face that kind of a problem with their movies. Overall Death Wish 2 is no masterpiece and it never intended to be one in the first place and except some dumb scenes with the daughter getting impaled or the policeman from the first film getting murdered (sequels do that often it seems) this was a perfectly action film that was enjoyable despite severe flaws with it's script and characters. (7.5/10)
View MoreBasically a remake of Death Wish but without the "philosophy." It stinks. It follows the usual pattern of assault piled upon insult, just to get us on the murderer's side, and then keeps us there as he works his way through a gang of ill-dressed rapists and killers."Dirty Harry" offered no such excuse. Harry was a man of principle, doing his job, who forgot that he's working for someone else, not just himself. This cartoonish abortion avoids any such complexity. The original "Death Wish" went to great lengths to justify Kersey's slaughter and his final exile from New York City, an excuse Dirty Harry didn't have. This piece of meretricious garbage doesn't bother with all that. The gang gang bangs Kersey's housemaid and retarded daughter and then kills them both. Kersey no longer needs to be talk into seeking out and killing the miscreants. He's already learned how to do it.Los Angeles as a population of roughly 3,800,000 people. How is Kersey to find the grandly tattood punks in this crowd? No problem. He dresses like a bum, hangs out in louche neighborhoods, and finds them -- period.Hollywood at its worst.
