Having just returned from a mission to Mars, Commander Ross isn't exactly himself. He's slowly becoming a terrifying alien entity with one goal -- to procreate with human women! When countless women suffer gruesome deaths after bearing half-alien offspring, scientist Laura Baker and hired assassin Press Lennox use Eve, a more tempered alien clone, to find Ross and his brood. Before long Eve escapes to mate with Ross.

Boring, long, and too preachy.

A film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.

It's a movie as timely as it is provocative and amazingly, for much of its running time, it is weirdly funny.

A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.

Spoiler Alert!!! This film is almost as good as the original with a similar plot where an alien like creature suddenly appears and starts mating in order to reproduce. Here though it's a male alien like creature so he doesn't have a problem going around having sex with any girl he sees. Another good thing about this film is that it brought back Michael and Marge to help keep the feeling of originality! And I'm so happy Forest Whitaker wasn't in this he is one of the most useless characters in cinema history. Seriously I wanted him to die from the very beginning because he is such a waste of a character. The only thing I didn't like about this film is the missing performance of Ben Kingsley where he acted like a jerk. Here though I don't remember there being any jerk in charge of the project which is kind of disappointing because I wanted to see a jerk in charge like the original. Other than that I must say this movie lives up to the original and is just as interesting I give it a 6.5 out of 10.

I thought the first Species in 1995 was not so bad-derivative of Alien but since Giger had also designed the Species creature it would make sense that it was similar. The dialogue in the sequel is trashy in a number of places which I think downgrades the film distinctively as opposed to what it would have been had they paid more attention to making the dialogue more intelligent. Frequently very gory & bloody and also suffers from plot errors in that one of the members of the space team who was exposed to alien DNA isn't considered suspect along with the others even after the other crew members have become fully infected with the aliens DNA. Dumb scripting. Its weird in the sense that they seem to be aiming for a younger audience in this one but if they are aiming for a younger audience they only made the film more death & sex orientated & generally cruder-that is some kind of a warped take on what younger people respond to. I think this film damaged the career of Michael Madson who was pretty good in the original and made Natasha Henstridge a non entity in the film business also. It looked like the budget was fairly generous for the film but I doubt if they made it back in the box office. It's always a mistake to treat the audience as if they are morons whose idea of a good time is slurping beer through a beer hat. Not true science fiction so much-more like schlock cinema at its schlockiest.

Ultra-Bloody big budget sequel is an example of the worst of the worst. A nominee for the most awful follow-up film ever. Who writes this stuff? The returning three leads are OK but they are surrounded by the most laughable characters ever in a mega-financed film. Do the U.S. Marines allow obesity? We have a 400 pound Officer who is so heavy every time he is on the screen it draws needless attention and one wonders how he ever got in the that uniform. This embarrassing figure is actually shown in a jeep filing his nails on the way to a battle. Then there is the African-American Astronaut who uses the term "Baby", "booty", and "know what i'm say-in" in almost every scene. He also talks, like a stand-up comic and slang's about not getting or getting laid a lot. The over the top gore is just as side-splitting, in fact this movie actually is so laugh out loud ridiculous that it enters that "Bad Movie" genre that will probably be enjoyed by those aficionados and rightfully so. There is so much here that is unintentionally hilarious and downright disgusting that you may actually be violently laughing and vomiting at the same time.

This movie is what my ultra conservative right wing teachers wish they could have showed me during sex education about what will happen if you have sex before marriage. It's just down right disturbing! Whoever thought of the plot to this was just down right messed up. There's so much gore it made me sick. The scene of girls having sex and then showing their stomachs explode was just really screwed up. What's worse is I had no idea what I was getting into. My friend made me sit down and watch this disturbing piece of garbage. One of the worst Sci-Fi films.
