It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.

What.A.Movie. Do you like heavy metal? Do you like demons? Do you like gore? If you answered YES to any of those three questions then I recommend you check this movie out. It is face meltingly good. It makes me laugh as I wonder if this is how non metal fans view people that listen/play metal? From past experience it probably is.With a killer soundtrack and some hilarious moments Deathgasm does not disappoint, the stand out moment for me is when Medina first hears Heavy Metal, this is how I believe all metalheads feel the first time they hear it.Fully recommended for fans of films such as Brain Dead, Black Sheep and Evil DeadI am looking forward to what the director brings us for his next offering.

"Deathgasm" is a future cult classic. It's funny, gory, sexy, and filled with references to actual extreme metal bands, rather than just made up names for shock value. The plot is to do with teenage metal fans who summon demons by singing lyrics they found in an insane metal fan's house. I was grateful that these creatures for once weren't zombies, though it's true that they don't behave that differently to that form of the undead. Our protagonist is bullied by his cousin, who is going out with the beautiful Medina, who of course soon falls for our hero. Why was she going out with the bully in the first place? Just once I'd like to see girls in this situation in movies behave as they do in real life. She's with the bully for a reason. The comparison is obviously going to made between this and Peter Jackson's "Braindead", and "Deathgasm", while highly entertaining, falls short. It's not as visually inventive as Jackson's classic, and didn't hold my attention for 100% of the time, but it's still probably the best horror movie of 2015.

Four teenage boys unwittingly summon an ancient evil entity known as The Blind One by delving into black magic while trying to escape their mundane lives. One part "Dead Alive", one part "Evil Dead 2", and a heaping scoop of "Todd and the Book of Pure Evil"... you have "Deathgasm", a movie that is both dark and hilarious, with over-the-top gore and some questionable sexual references (but never offensive, just uproarious).New Zealand has really taken off as far as their film industry goes. I don't know if Peter Jackson injected them somehow or just got more people to notice the great things happening there... but whichever, there are some films from the last few years that are among the best in the horror genre.

Whether you're going to love this film to bits or despise its very existence should be pretty easy to figure out. It's called Deathgasm. Its a black-comedy horror centered around metalheads. Its laughing at itself as much as you are.Despite its perhaps limited appeal, Deathgasm does have a lot of qualities to boast of. It was clearly made on a low budget, but the acting, cinematography and effects are all handled with more than an amateur proficiency. However, this is far more a comedy than a horror film. If the references to nerd culture and metal/rock music aren't your thing, its probably not going to appeal to you much. If you're in the know however, there's a lot of fun to be had here.I'm not going to describe the story because its by far the weakest part of the film. Things start off normal and the sinister events build to a climax: that's the basic structure. Possibly the most disappointing part of the story is the lack of a truly solid villain character. The writing, on the other hand, is pretty great. Some jokes land better than others but for the most part this is perfect film to watch with drunk friends (think Sharknado, or the Crank films). If you're a metal fan, as I am, I'm sure you'll also appreciate that the references are not overly ham-fisted. The gore-horror sequences are also entertaining. This is where the budget is most visible, but the director clearly has an appreciation for his craft with authentic Shaun of the Dead and Evil Dead vibes throughout. And the practical gore effects are oh so satisfying. If you're in this film's target demographic as I am, I'm sure you'll at very least get a few laughs. If not, just keep drinking and you'll get there.
