A Brilliant Conflict

Jenna Walter

The film may be flawed, but its message is not.

Frances Chung

Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable

It's a good bad... and worth a popcorn matinée. While it's easy to lament what could have been...

Warning - spoilers!I wish I could give it a zero... First of all this movie has no drama, the story just unfolds, even the part about the divorce ceremony, which could have been interesting, is just a series of shots that make little sense and lasts about 10 minutes. Then the ending. This guy acts on a whim, leaves his pregnant wife, organizes a divorce ceremony, and then just changes him mind and proposes again?? The only thing that would have made the movie better was for the wife to kick him in jewels and yell no. Unfortunately she says yes, totally destroying the movie.

I hate Mike for putting his wife through trauma during her pregnancy and equally giving hopes to Alex that she is the one for him since long years... What a bastard that he couldn't take any of his relation seriously....neither Alex forced him nor did his wife was a typical nagging wife with whom he had a bad marriage happening then why the hell such a bad decision. For guys like this not just marriage but relationships too are just a passing cloud...what do you guys think...I know it's a movie and I enjoyed the story as well but in reality what do you guys think of such a jerk or overall situation. This movie is pretty dumb, but if you think about it, life is unfair, you don't get what you want.

Wow, this movie knocked me off my socks! I just stumbled across it accidentally and couldn't believe how the story line unfolded. It really is the perfect train wreck. The male actor has an awesome and beautiful wife that anyone would fall in love with but an even more beautiful reconnection with his high school sweet heart right after he marries his perfect wife. What to do? He certainly makes a lot of mistakes but in all honesty anyone would struggle in the situations he was in. I think my mouth was open in shock for most the movie as I waivered with his every decision. But in the end the train wreck works itself out. Awesome movie!

You know how sometimes you are watching a movie and you are wondering, how did someone involved with the production not see that there are significant shortcomings. This is one such movie. The cast isn't all bad, Elliott Gould is excellent of course, Lainie Kazan has seen better days, Nadia Bjorlin has something weird going on with her eyes (apparently she is from Days of our Lives), Maeve Quinlan and Robin Riker (both from The Bold and The Beautiful according to IMDb) look and act like soapie actors.Jonathan Bennett in the lead as Michael is all over the place. Andrea Bowen (Julie from Desperate Housewives) is quite good, and Keith Robinson as Michael's best friend is probably the best in the movie. The wonderful Richard Kind has a very small but good part. I should mention Jamie-Lynn Sigler, she is very good, but her character is not likable, and the presentation she is giving early in the movie in a college lecture room is ridiculously banal. Embarrassingly so.Stuff just doesn't make sense, the internal logic (even for a rom-com, and we like rom-coms) is in tatters, and the script is very poor indeed. On the plus side, the movie is well shot - at least it looks professional. But, it just isn't any good. I can only give it 2/10.
