if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.

The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

A clunky actioner with a handful of cool moments.

This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

Cinematography: 7/10 Usually OK, but suffers from darkness and graininess.Sound: 8/10 The incidental music is a bit florid, but the recording is well done.Acting: 3/10 Mark Dacascos and Robin McKee were just plain bad. Both are miscast, which makes matters worse. Veteran actors Jurgen Prochnow and Roger Aaron Brown were better, but had to deal with the mediocre script.Screenplay: 5/10 Supposedly set in Malaysia, but some of the 'natives' use language one might find in the Philippines, where the filming was done. The expedition early on in the film had a Raiders of the Lost Ark feel to it, with a dash of King Solomon's Mines during the meetings with the locals. Perhaps the worst motivational piece was Carl asserting that many countries would pay large amounts of money for this biological weapon. Please! They could not control it in the least, just as nothing could control the alien killers in Alien or its sequels. The is no military application here, so no source of money. If they had kept with the idea of immunity-enhancing enzymes, the film would have been more coherent.Special Effects: 5/10 The monster, at least outside, was clearly a not-so-good man in a rubber suit. The helicopter crashes and explosions were between so-so and poor.

The story takes place in province of Sarawak in the island of Borneo Malaysia, and the scenery is beautiful. An alien creature called Balakai's DNA gets used to create an alien clone that goes in a rampage killing people at random in the jungles of Borneo. The script is the worst part of this movie. There's lot of scene changes that doesn't blend smoothly, and a plot that doesn't make sense at times. As many people have pointed out, there are the blatant rip off of scenes from the movie Predator.Everything else about the movie is pretty good (for a B movie that is). Acting is pretty good, special effect is okay, and there's some decent action, and a story that's reasonably compelling. So it was a good movie to watch and provided good 2 hours of entertainment.

By chance one one my friend had rented this movie! Other wise I would've went back to the video store to demand a refund! The producers just can't be serious! This movie is the WORST movie ever made! Nothing in this movie is original! Except the worst special effect ever portrayed in the history of cinema! Even If you have never seen a special effect in your life, by watching the said scene you definitely will know that it's not real! Therefore if a cocked eye dog could see the special effect how come it didn't get cut in the film? It's as if the producers won a prized to make a film and they gave'em a day to shoot it!!Stay away from this movie, Ugh! The first part of the movie is Alien (xept it's in a lab!) and the other one is Predator! I was expecting to see Jurassic Park in there too! I give this thing a -3/10 would've been worst if I had rented it!I pity the fool!

For anyone who likes to watch a bad movie for a good laugh. "DNA" isn't it. "DNA" is just plain bad all around, with nothing to even laugh at. It was made on a cheap budget, has real bad action, acting and REALLY BAD directing and no writing. I think everyone made it up as they went. There's no interest in the action (Joe average guy is able to take out several big commandos, I don't think so). The sad moments don't make you feel sad or sympathetic. The idea that the CIA would send into the jungle one agent (who's your stereotyped woman who falls at the critical point type), with a doctor as a guide, to take out a dangerous villain and the monster he's created, is just stupid. As I said, it's as if they didn't bother to write a script.Any TV station who shows "DNA" should be ashamed. I just watched it on the SCIFI channel. They're too good to show something like this. I'll bet no one on their staff ever saw it before. It was a complete waste of my time!
