Must See Movie...
In other words, this film is a surreal ride.
Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.
View MoreGreat movie. Not sure what people expected but I found it highly entertaining.
View MoreI did not wanted to give some history class here, but I couldn't stand still without mention this. First time when i saw this movie title, I was very surprised. Dostana is the only name who appear only among Serb and Indian population. It can't be found anywhere in the world except aforementioned. That was the first thing on my mind before i decided to watch it. Moreover, that makes me wonder about claims where some historian said, that Serb origin is India, from where they start to migrate about 7000 years ago. We have common physiognomy of some people in Serbia (south part) they look almost same as Indian: black hair, skinny, dark skin color (but they are not gypsies). Movie is packed with good humor, it can be watched. Nice concept, scenario and camera.Go for it.
View MoreThis movie looked very different from the start, not one of those typical Yash Raj movies, but it works. Kunal (John Abraham) and Sam (Abhishek Bachan) are living in the same place, and they end up going to live at the same apartment. But the apartment's landlord only takes in women, so they pretend to be gay in order to get into the apartment. But what they don't know is that there is a pretty, sassy, girl living there who grabs their attention , Neha (Priyanka Chopra).Follow their friendship and how they both end up liking her. John is amazing,Abhishek has done some great acting, and Priyanka as well.Though not a family movie, still worth a watch, (or more)10 stars out of 10!!
View MoreDostana is a very stylish Bollywood flick that shows how modern and hip the Indian film industry has progressed over the years. Dostana is extremely vibrant, with excellent and clever editing and a real "cool" feeling that really lifts your spirits. It's no wonder it's only the fourth Bollywood movie to break into the U.S. Top 20 box office.Dostana boasts a fairly star studded cast, with many familiar names such as Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham, Bobby Deol, and of course the stunningly gorgeous Priyanka Chopra, one of this year's most successful Bollywood actresses. Personally I thought it was Abhishek who steals the show most of the time, his humour is top notch without having to go over the top or appearing to be cheesy or forced. John Abraham may at first appear to be just eye candy for the ladies, but he also does extremely well and shows off his moves in various dances as well. I've never really been a fan of Bollywood's song and dances, but I thoroughly enjoyed the songs in Dostana especially "My Desi Girl" which I felt was one of the climaxes of the movie. This movie is in no way homophobic. Those who call it ridiculous and making fun of homosexuality are probably taking it too seriously. Dostana doesn't laugh at gay people, it laughs at the two bumbling idiots, Bachchan and Abraham, two supposedly macho young guys pretending to be a gay couple. Perhaps some scenes which depicted actual gay people were a bit stereotyped but I felt it was simply adding to the film's light-heartedness and humour. It does convey a decent message in that everyone should be accepted for who they are, regardless of their sexual preference. Dostana is well worth the rental if not just for the songs, but Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham really do a great job playing off of each other and only the most uptight of people could resist laughing at this film.
View MoreDostana well, its just like any other average Hindi film lack of originality. Though the actors put up a good show but still B-WOOD still has a long way to compete in terms of quality with the rest of the world. Dostana is a blatant copy of I NOW PRONOUNCE YOU CHUCK AND LARRY. At least 90% is copied from This Adam Sandler's movie. Bobby Deol's role is just an attempt to beef up the movie and make it even more silly. To an exposed mind this is just and nothing more than an average movie. I will give it a rating of maximum 4. I bet its time we explored what is beyond the average, obvious and predictable B-WOOD horizon!
