Watch something else. There are very few redeeming qualities to this film.

One of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.

After reading all of the bad reviews I was sure this movie was going to be horrible. I have to say I was quite surprised. The movie was much better than I expected. I mean, sure there were some moments of bad acting, but really: this is a date movie and it succeeds as such.Marc does a great job as a sensitive, but very sexual guy. He does a great job playing his role without being a characture. My only major complaint is about Caleb. He does a good job of being the "bungling" straight guy, but he was a little too "hard to get" when it comes to the girl he wants.

This is a truly remarkable, very funny & yet sensitive movie. Ryan Carnes (Marc) and Scott Lunsford (Caleb) gave the best performance among the cast. Both were so natural on their acting abilities that it didn't surprise me when I heard that this movie won multiple awards.Scott Lunsford created a perfect fit for this character "Caleb" as a reluctant straight guy pretending to be gay so that he can bed down this girl named Gwen(played by Emily Stiles) that he likes who happened to be the best friend and roommate of Marc (Ryan Carnes) who's gay and attracted to Caleb. It's a perfect love triangle so to speak.Emily Stiles did a very good job too playing the role of a fag hug who speaks her mind. The only disappointment to this movie was the acting of Jim Verraros who played the role of Kyle. He may be a good singer but his acting ability apparently shows that he's quite an amateur.Nonetheless, the movie was directed really well. It's truly remarkable that they cast 2 lead actors such as Lunsford and Carnes who are not just good actors but very good looking too. Carnes' acting was worth an academy award while Lunsford's stunning good looks, perfect body shape and dazzling, seductive eyes are total turn ON!!!

As I have spent time catching up on gay films lately --- I found "Eating Out" to be a fresh nice piece of fun gay film- gentle and easy. Fun to watch. I found it thoughtful and insightful to the realities that gay men face and approachable enough my straight friends enjoyed it - . Eating Out represents a sweet nice refreshing drink of water filmed in the hot Tucson sun. The writers use of contemporary gay slang, and situations makes you wonder what will be around the next corner. The characters represent folks you know in your every day life and the situations a cross between reality and Queer As Folk - are believable and yet funny-the cast is well mated and plays well off each other and is damned cute too!- when I compare it to other 2004/2005 releases I have found it more enjoyable than certain mainstream gay releases and certainly way less depressing.

This is the kind of insipid superficial gay movie that gives the gay community a bad name. Real low class/low rate stuff. Awful writing and awful directing. If you like all the superficial and unrefined elements of a culture, then this is for you. If you are looking for something more sophisticated and that even attempts to approximate 'art', then look elsewhere. Real Insipid, superficial gay junk movie. Not worth the time or money. I can never understand how this kind of stuff can get made or where these writers or directors heads are when they think this stuff up. It is really the type of movie that has become the bane of existence of the gay community.
