ridiculous rating
Really Surprised!
Excellent, a Must See
The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.
View MoreI guess I found this movie premise interesting because I am a man and have know idea what women go through emotionally and physically during the whole birthing process so post partum depression or psychosis is a mystery to me.I gave it only a 9 because there were some thing that were not explained thoroughly enough for my liking. One was the Diary she found and the girl in the grocery store that talked about her friend that used to live there. I know, I know they showed her open it up at the end and it was blank so it was actually her diary but I just felt it happened a little too quickly for the viewer to process.Other than that I loved the movie. I've watched it a couple of times again hoping I could find answers as to why and how psychosis occurs or develops to the point of matricide. That question is never fully answered. It could have something to do with the guilt she felt for killing her dog with rat poison. I mean she just really seemed like more of an absent minded person other than crazy/mad at times. I know that her being a lone a lot of the time also contributed to her condition and her husband was really never there for her and probably resented her for killing the family dog however accidentally.
View MorePoorly written script, and directors art visions about women,I don't want to recommend this, slow, poor, disturbing, but is not as different as they says.Seen it before parts put together without any skills.Unforunatelly Elizabeth Shue plays with one boring face in the whole movie.Laughable dialogs makes the situation worst, but not in a good way, cause this movie, and it's director has not real sense of humor.Feels like the movie is almost 150 minutes long, while not,but feels like that long.Officially this movie has not(V)or(TV)-sign,or rating by IMDb.At this moment, but I will not wonder if years after this will get it,cause it worth that.1,2/10-not worth watching.
View Moredon't believe everything you read, everyone has an opinion, and everyone does not have to agree with that opinion. the movie was slow moving in a positive way, this helped in creating the characters and atmosphere. and even though we could predict the ending, we did not want this to be so;as the ending developed that feeling of "Oh my god" factor hit home with a thud. the movie left me feeling numb and silent, hoping i had missed a valuable point, though no, Spoiler - she really did it, her madness brought on by a bad experience during labour, loneliness and paranoia towards being what society counts towards being a good mother, and later infection from her c section brings on hallucinations and madness. as she takes the doll out into the garden, dragging it by the arm and tossing it onto the grass before digging a hole to bury the cold, lifeless plastic that has been haunting her, the small smile forcing its way onto the mothers face has never left me with such a feeling of dread, keep your paranormal, slash, terror/horror movies, this psychological thriller did it for me, i feel despair and sadness just as the mother felt and what the director wanted from his audience.
View MoreI don't exactly understand why most of these reviews say the movie doesn't tell you what's happening. I can see how some people who don't think with an open mind or just have a low attention span and are expecting a Hollywood style horror/thriller movie get disappointed but that's not what this movie was going for.. This movie is as most others who gave it a high rating stated, is meant to be a psychological movie. So Laura sees rats in the house, Steve calls the exterminator who says there are no rats.. I'll admit I don't understand the whole Jenny thing but the voodoo. The older woman (Mrs. Kasperian)said she did some research after she was experiencing a similar anxiety after her first child so the thing under the crib was hers. However, the Mrs. Kasperian wasn't trying to do bad voodoo, you can gather from the character that she knew something was wrong and she did that little thing under the crib to help. Also, you know Laura's going crazy when near the end she sees the mice and tries to 'get the mice off her baby' when her husband Steve looks on the camera there are no mice (the mice are non-existent). Then at the end Laura does bury her baby thinking it was the 'cursed doll'. So, most of the events on the movie are explained and I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. If you decide to watch it, I hope you enjoy it too.
