Plot so thin, it passes unnoticed.

Highly Overrated But Still Good

what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.

One of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.

FRATERNITY MASSACRE AT HELL ISLAND has a great exploitative title and that's about it. It's your typical run-of-the-mill slasher movie filmed on zero budget and with a bunch of youngsters being menaced by a killer, this time a guy dressed as a clown who does an embarrassingly little dance of elation each time he claims a victim. There's a gender twist of sorts in that the main cast are all young nubile men rather than women, and bizarrely this film seems to be plugging a gay agenda with plenty of scenes of guys making out and male nudity. There's also a nude woman in the shower for good measure. It's too cheap to cause offensive, and in the end feels like an utterly worthless production.

A bunch of freshman pledges including cute gay Jack Jones (Tyler Farrell) have to spend the night on a deserted island to get into a fraternity. It was the place when, back in 1984, four people were poisoned to death. The fraternity brothers naturally sneak on the island to play pranks on the pledges. There's also a killer dressed in a clown outfit stalking and killing them all. Who is it--and why? You really won't care.**SPOILERS THROUGHOUT** This is not a bad idea. Usually you get a bunch of untalented but attractive actresses running around screaming and being chased by a killer. This time we have a bunch of untalented actors being chased around by a killer. Not a bad idea but this SUCKS! For one thing all the actors are pretty obviously way too old to be in college --Farrell is almost 30! Also only a few are attractive but only the unattractive ones take their clothes off! Farrell is the only good-looking guy that has a nude scene (back view only). Most of the other guys run around in briefs. The plot is asinine--full of stupid lines (Sample: "First of all there's a psycho clown killing everybody and second--I'm gay.") There's also just incredibly horrible acting. I can't stress enough how BAD some of this acting is. It's almost embarrassing to watch at times. Also the killings are horribly done. Most of them happen off-camera or from a distance with the fakest stage blood I've ever seen. To make things worse the killer clown does a pathetic little dance after killing people! Then the ending has multiple twists which come out of NOwhere and make little sense. Also the back story about the four ghosts is completely pointless and throws in some unbelievably lame humor. Repititous music score too. The few good things about the movie are--some cute guys shirtless; there's some fairly hot guy-on-guy kissing; good acting by Farrell and hotie Kaleo Quenzer (as Tommy) and a gay positive message. Also all the str8 characters are killed--only the gay guys and one girl are left alive at the end. I'm all for gay positive horror movies--but do they have to be THIS bad??? Aside from the nude scene of Farrell and gay kissing this movie has nothing to offer. Avoid.
