SERIOUSLY. This is what the crap Hollywood still puts out?

I am only giving this movie a 1 for the great cast, though I can't imagine what any of them were thinking. This movie was horrible

The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.

This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.

I saw "Bender's Big Score" after having just watched all the old seasons, so they were fresh in my head. Unfortunately, the film had some serious issues that kept it from achieving its true potential:1) Way Too "Over The Top"The phrase "if it's not broken don't fix it" comes to mind. Futurama had its own hilarious brand of humor and intelligent writing. With this film, I immediately sensed that the writers were going the direction of The Matrix 2/3 or Pirates 3, where it seemed the only thing that mattered was "making the movie more epic" at the expense of the plot and quality entertainment.The beginning of this movie was by far the worst. Things were kicked up about 10 notches too far and it wasn't pretty.. it was like all the characters went on an energy drink binge before "filming". My friend and I looked at each other in disbelief as Leela asked, "What about all our fans?" before a bunch of actual fans started blowing behind her.. seriously??? This is the same show that spoofed Elton John as the Pharoah's musical entertainment at his funeral.. Now that's humorous!! (as Zoidberg would say). There was certainly no hearty laughter resulting from watching this movie..2) Writing and PlotThe storyline itself is poorly written, as if they were trying to cram every possible minor character, location, and subplot from every episode ever made into this one film. This creates some very shallow and pointless situations.Brannigan for example is on screen for about 30 seconds, and says nothing funny at all. Oh wait I'm sorry.. He told Kif to "cover his knees because they're cold". Wow, that's some real comedic genius there writers...SantaBot appears in the worse cameo of all, having an absolutely senseless role and to make things worse, performing in what's sure to be known as the worst song ever produced on Futurama to date.The Leela/Fry/Lars storyline is irritating and shallow, and in my opinion the whole Leela/Fry thing has been extremely overused. It's dull material. Nobody cares that Leela is still trying to find love for the 400th episode and has found another shallow moron, and nobody cares that Fry is still whining about not having her.The Fry/Whale subplot was really dumb and silly as well. Apparently the writers thought they could replicate some of the magic from "Jurassic Bark" (and honestly aside from the ending I wasn't a huge fan of that one..) But you can't pull the same trick twice, come on writers do something original.I actually liked the alien/scam plot as it was fairly original. Of course everyone including Bender and the professor falling for the phishing scam was certainly ridiculous and too over-the-top.Bender (as usual) is the highlight of the movie. I enjoyed watching him say those numbers and then jumping into the time portal. His humor wasn't as sharp as in old episodes, but it was funny to see him being completely obedient to those aliens for most of the movie.Finally, the ending was not too bad. Seeing Hermes control all the spaceships with the music was a cool part, but Lars turning out to be Fry was silly.. Apparently Leela is going to continue her stupidity with dating any other guy in the universe but Fry (unless it's an older Fry.) So silly and dumb at this point...3) Voice ActingUsually a high point of this series, some of it was way off. Zoidberg practically has a new voice (very muffled.. I didn't like it). Scruffy and Elzar also sounded strange. Come on voice-actors at least review the old episodes and don't just make up a new voice! Lazy!4) SONGSWOW were they terrible! The one with SantaBot was absolute trash. I was never much for songs in animated series (the robot devil song was OK), but the songs in this movie are an embarrassment.Overall, a big disappointment compared to the show itself. People certainly overrated it because they were "excited that Futurama was back". I certainly hope the other movies are a large improvement.

This movie is GREAT, and great Futurama. It follows the spirit of the show to the letter, has some great lines, and keeps you entertained. The humor is not always blatant, which is quite characteristic of the show, and the more dramatic moments were done tastefully without incurring boredom. There were also some moments where I laughed until my sides hurt....I especially appreciate the cameo appearances by some of the minor characters, such as Seymore. I can see why some might consider a few scenes in this movie to be slow, but it IS a movie---how many (good) movies are non-stop action and/or humor?An absolute must for any Futurama fan, and probably not a bad start for a new viewer as well.

I read a comment from another user regarding this flick... it raved, it extolled, it was more than complementary. It was SO misleading that I'd think the writer is 12 if it weren't for the apparently adult vocab.The first half of this bit of dreck is a rehash of bits from the entire series - much like any other 'movie' version of a TV show that got cancelled for being stale and simply HAD to have another crack at moving merchandise at a 7-11 near you. The latter half begs a drunken audience with 2-digit IQs.Don't waste your time (or, Buddha forbid, money!) on this. Stick to the earlier years of the series and don't sully good memories with Matt Groening's selling-out. Go watch something with David Hasselhoff, at least you'll walk away with a sense of smell.

With the company reformed by the sacking of the executives of the Box Company, Planet Express are delivering to the Nude Beach Planet when they are scammed out of their email addresses and personal details by some naked aliens. As it transpires they scam the company right from under Professor Farnsworth and soon Fry and the others are working for them on a global scam. The scammers search for information leads them to Fry's ass, where he has a tattoo of Bender with an embedded binary code on it. The code opens a time portal through which the aliens send Bender to steal valuable items from history. However, with Professor Fransworth's doom-meter going off the scale, it can only be so long before the universe tells itself apart.When I saw there was a Futurama film I added it immediately to my rental list even though it was not due out any time soon. After this I forgot about it until suddenly it turned up on my doorstep. I mention this so that you do not think I was hyping it in my head in the lead up to watching it – just that I was looking forward to more of the Futurama humour that I had been missing since the series was cancelled. The film starts in a rather clumsy fashion, making references to the series being cancelled that aren't that funny and are just done. I thought things might get better from this point on but sadly and bewilderingly they didn't.The main problem is the plot which, at best, is described as convoluted and at worst is just all over the place. This is not to say that the plots in the series were even anything that good but it was rare for them to actually get in the way of the comedy. Here however so much effort and time is spent on the many uncontrolled plot threads that it appears the writers have had very little time to create the sort of wit that they did in the series. Over the ninety minutes there are about ten good laughs and these are generally asides that the series did better. Of course at times this works but there are just too few laughs across the longer running time to justify it and it is hard not to find yourself sitting with an awkward smile while waiting for the next laugh to eventually come along. The messy plot could have been delivered tongue in cheek to prevent it being a focal point but actually the film does the opposite – pushing itself forward and leaving the asides and general comedy very much in the shade.The Futurama film was understandably hotly anticipated by those who bemoaned the loss of the series; I myself was looking forward to it and ready to forgive it some weaknesses. However the final product is far too weak in terms of laughs and far too messy in regards plotting and delivery. It cannot even sort of fill the running time in regards entertainment value and it would have been much better if it had picked one plot, dropped half of that and kept all the funny asides to make up a twenty minute episode.
