While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.

There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.

Worth seeing just to witness how winsome it is.

.Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.

Ghoulies Go to College (1991) * 1/2 (out of 4) Professor Ragnar (Kevin McCarthy) turns out to be a sick, evil man and sure enough he sets loose the ghoulies on a college campus. It doesn't take long for the "cool" kids to come under attack and they must fight back.GHOULIES GO TO COLLEGE was the third film in the series and I must say that it came so, so close to actually being a good movie. In fact, this direct-to-video cheapie should have been a much better movie and it could have been had the filmmakers simply did a couple things different, which I'll get to in a bit. As far as the film goes, well, the entire series really wasn't much to write about but at least director John Carl Buechler turned this into a R-rated film aimed more at adults. This third film offers up a lot more nudity, a little more blood and it's clear that they were aiming the picture at horror nerds who were renting these type of low-budget movies on VHS back in the day. I really liked the fact that they tried to punch things up a bit but the majority of the adult nature comes from non-stop nudity that is running throughout the picture. Hey, there's nothing wrong with nudity, now is there? The women are all attractive and the monster costumes are good for what they are. With Buechler behind the effects one wishes that there was a bit more gore. The biggest issue with this film is certainly the screenplay as all of the characters are quite annoying. This film goes for a campy, obnoxious teenager thing and it just failed completely because you hate all of the teen characters and you really just want them to die off. They're some of the most annoying characters that you're ever going to see and there are just too many of them. All of them dreadfully annoying and after a while it just eats at you. I'd also argue that the 94-minute running time was way too long for this type of film. With that said, Buechler does a nice job in the directing department and McCarthy is good in the lead role. He's certainly a lot of fun here and it's nice seeing someone like him show up in a movie like this. As I said, GHOULIES GOES TO COLLEGE isn't a good movie but had the characters been less annoying and had the picture run a bit less, it could have been much more entertaining.

This is a great movie. It is very scary. Not has scary has Ghoulies II. It a lot better then the first Ghoulies movie. Ghoulies IV is better. But do not see the first Ghoulies movie it not very good. This is scarier then silence of the lambs could ever be. See this movie It has a great story line. It has great acting. It also has great special effects. I do not know why it got a 3.5. It is a great movie I give it 7 out of 10. This is one of the scariest movies from 1991. See it. It is a great horror movie. I need more lines and I am running out of things to say. This is not has scary has The Exorcist. But it is better then A Nightmare on elm street and that is not easy to do.

Lame "comedy" entry in the poor Ghoulies series with some notable casting. There's a Revenge of the Nerds sequel vibe to it and that's not a compliment. College professor Kevin McCarthy summons the Ghoulies this time. It's prank week at the college and literally every male in this movie is a complete douchebag. In addition to genre vet Kevin McCarthy, there's a young and very pretty Eva La Rue, Jason Scott Lee as a nerd (!), and Matthew Lillard in his film debut. There's a few other familiar faces but nobody important. The lead character is a guy named Skip played by an actor time has forgotten. This is a terrible excuse for a movie. Cheap, unfunny, certainly not scary...it's just abysmal.

Lame is really the best way to describe this movie. It has a real poor script, uninteresting dialog and characters and it's lacking in basically everything else as well. There are too many characters and problem is that you don't care about any of them. What the movie is lacking is one good and clear main character. Instead now the movie has a bit of everything, it has a bit of an hero, it has a bit of a love interest and it has a bit of villain. I wish it only had a bit less Ghoulies though, fore they are just mostly very annoying in this movie.Ghoulies are supposed to be devilish creatures, who murder for pleasure. In this movie however all they want to do is drink beer and watch naked college girls. Besides, someone had the 'brilliant' idea to let the Ghoulies be able to talk this time. This works out really poorly and annoying. The Ghoulie-puppets had been definitely upgraded for this movie and they are more detailed looking and are able to do more, however at the same time they are way more fake looking than the ones from the previous Ghoulies movies. It's obvious that the aim for this movie was more comedy than horror this time. The movie is like a lame '80's high-school comedy (even though this movie got released in 1991). It's humor is really the worst and most lame thing about the entire movie. It's so incredibly annoying and simply not funny at all.The story is not going anywhere with its story and the movie is just basically one big mess, that never seems to end. The Ghoulies plot line seems basically to have nothing to do at all with the other plot lines of the movie, involving the human characters. The movie is not at all about the Ghoulies terrorizing a college, with the humans trying to hunt them down and stop their rampage. No big surprise that this is Brent Olson's only written movie as of yet. He simply has no talent for it and I think that he has discovered this as well and has gone back to college himself instead.Even when compared to the previous Ghoulies movies; this movie is just simply terrible!2/10http://bobafett1138.blogspot.com/
