Good start, but then it gets ruined

It's funny watching the elements come together in this complicated scam. On one hand, the set-up isn't quite as complex as it seems, but there's an easy sense of fun in every exchange.

This story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.

The low rating resulted from the typical dull-witted viewer, and a hilariously evil cat. The typical Hallmark viewer likes non stop gushy feel good schmaltz so they probably enjoyed everything but the cat. The dull-wits must have 2 F bombs in every line because they cannot understand cynical wit, have no vocabulary, and teach at Ivy League schools. But for someone like me who is constantly seeking another "Where's Poppa," "A New Leaf," or "Scrooged," the only good lines were from Aubrey Plaza who really is grumpy, mean, and snarky. Almost LOL at every line. The cat itself looked pretty funny too. The rest of the characters are Hallmark vanilla funny. Meaning, ok for Hallmark audiences. I would pay money over and over to see a non-stop Aubrey Plaza grumpy cat feature film as long as it held true to her character. I fear it would be the typical F bomb, feces, vagina joke parade so I have little hope.

I only decided to watch this because there wasn't any other movie that grabbed me that night, so I went ahead and viewed this one.Glad I did. The movie itself reminded me in many ways of the original Home Alone movie. You have the good guys, the bumbling bad guys and all that goes with it.What made it pretty darn good was the comedy that grumpy cat tossed in there that you weren't expecting. The writers did a great job of showing us the cats annoyed disposition and general annoyed attitude with a lot of surprising extras.I can't say any more that that without spoilers so yes. I recommend this. It's really cute and very, very cleaver.

gawd awful and worn out 'A Christmas Story'! Honestly, Grumpy Cat could set a whole new entertainment standard for the Christmas season. Does anyone with internet access not know who Grumpy Cat is?Grumpy has been rejected by too many families and the next stop is the animal shelter if Grumpy isn't adopted soon. Well, here Grumpy cat finds her soul owner in Chrystal. The two of them discover a planned heist by two bumbling idiot thieves played by Evan Todd & Issac Hayes. Todd & Hayes do a marvelous job portraying these two fools!All throughout the movie Grumpy is making snide remarks about the movie and 'us' the viewers. How anyone could be offended by this wee bit of tomfoolery is beyond me. I laffed myself into a grinning fan of Grumpy.Good for Grumpy ---- fun flick for this often depressing season!

Sharp-eared viewers who catch Aubrey Plaza (as Grumpy Cat) introduce Meghan Charpentier's white-trash-named and spelled "Chrystal" as "part of the last generation on a dying planet" understand they are in for a seditious battering of all things bright and beautiful. Grumpy Cat's venom spews equally over Chrystal, Christmas, modern American mall culture, parenting, and all the tenants of Lifetime movies. How this thing finagled a "G" rating is a thing of mystery if no other reason than a fantasy sequence when Grumpy is tied down and gassed to death. The movie doesn't break as much as just ignores the fourth wall with Grumpy returning from commercial breaks expressing disbelief that the audience is still watching and wonder why you don't do something more productive with your limited lifespan. When the plot slows, bubbles with Grumpy in them appear to lampoon the current action or to just talk about something more interesting. Evan Todd and Isaac Haig as the baddies (although everyone comes across as fairly useless) trade quips worth of a Tarantino film with out the sickening pretense. Daniel Roebuck as super creepy mall guard "George" brings a discomforting weirdness particularly when he hits on young, female mall workers. If it all sounds like the satire of the standard Lifetime Christmas movie went a little overboard then you got that right. In short, if you like your chocolate Santa's and your comedies dark, this is a must see (keep the kids away from it).
