A search for love, meaning and bathroom solitude. Danny goes through a series of shared housing experiences in a succession of cities on the east coast of Australia. Together these vignettes form a narrative that is surprisingly reflective.

The greatest movie ever!

It is so daring, it is so ambitious, it is so thrilling and weird and pointed and powerful. I never knew where it was going.

I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.

Great movie. Not sure what people expected but I found it highly entertaining.

This is hands-down the funniest movie I've ever seen. It captures the hopelessness of low-rent youth but remains incredibly hopeful, and explains why Australians always seem to be likable; every character in the film is bizarre in one way or another yet Lowenstein manages to highlight what makes them appealing enough to share a house with in the first place. As for the note-perfect bit, the soundtrack is surprisingly star-studded and perfect for the film - a mix of sad, reflective pieces by those who are known for them (Moby, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, The Passengers) and interesting covers and Australian artists (Nick Cave makes it into two categories). I'm lucky to have stumbled across this film in a convoluted and bizarre-in-itself way, because neither the book nor the movie are available anywhere in Canada (I've checked thoroughly).

Myself and my partner made it through about 3/4 of an hour of this drizzle. We decided life was too short to be bothered seeing the rest of this awful, awful film. Nice camera, some nice location shots (about 20 seconds outside in the first few minutes) and the rest of the time was pretty much spent listening to utterly mind numbing dialogue. There have been a few Aussie and New Zealand films like this recently and I can only assume it is the influence of British and American low budget 'indie' film makers. Unfortunately this one didn't gel in our opinion. But it did have some nice looking camera work, sif that saves it. Waste of $2NZ rental (about $1.50US).

I regret watching this movie. The only positive thing about this movie is the soundtrack and how the characters show their weirdness without hiding it. For the rest , there is no plot, no emotions, no nothing , no sense whatsoever. If you would like to make movies in your life but you're not sure , watch "he died with a felafel in his hand" , you can't do worse than that. Wait , maybe Van Helsing was worse , but that' s another story. After watching it me and other for friends were speechless. Our faces were saying: what was that all about?

Well I try to see as many Australian films as I can to support our industry but when I see films like this it makes me wonder why. What a boring, contrived, unfunny mess of a movie this was. Often I'll dislike a movie but still see that some people could like it - but how could anyone give 'felafel' more than two stars! I could write a better movie than this.and to the person that said no such thing as burger king exists in Australia - it certainly does in Sydney, theres one just up the street.
