Not even bad in a good way

Lack of good storyline.

This is ultimately a movie about the very bad things that can happen when we don't address our unease, when we just try to brush it off, whether that's to fit in or to preserve our self-image.

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

Early "Slasher" Entry following "Halloween" (1978) and made the same Year as "Friday the 13th" (1980). A Good Title and the Opening Scenes are Inviting but from there it has Pacing Problems and although there are Numerous Kills, only one or two are in any way Memorable or Ground Breaking. The Acting ranges from Bad to Good, in Fact, Tom Hanks' Feature Film Debut had His Character Slated for a Slashing but Cut Not so because His rather Brief Appearance was so Likable. The Editing is Clunky and the Movie Shows Little in Articism and is only Slightly Removed from its Cloning. The Decision to Rip-Off the Striking and Signature One Note Piano Style from John Carpenter is so Similar as to be Counter-Productive.Surprisingly Bloodless for its Type and the Gore is Minimal. Overall, Worth a Watch for Horror Fans and to see Tom Hanks Entrance, but other Viewers Outside the Genre could Consider Leaving this one Alone.

A nameless killer stalks brides-to-be. That's "He Knows You're Alone" in a nutshell, so enough about the plot because there's really not much to say.The problem with "He Knows You're Alone" isn't the fact that it's obviously an attempt to cash in on the success of "Halloween" (hell, half the movies made before 1984 attempted the same thing), but the film commits two unforgivable slasher film mistakes: it's bloodless, and it's boring. Two things a slasher film should never be.If you're making a slasher film and you can't manage to keep your movie taut and suspenseful for 90 minutes what with all the stalking and slashing you have the opportunity to put on screen, you're either trying too hard to be classy or you just shouldn't be making a slasher. This isn't to say "He Knows You're Alone" doesn't have some good things going for it--the lighting is atmospheric in some night scenes, there are some tense moments where the killer is just out of frame waiting to strike, and the film is more professionally shot than most of its brothers--but all of its merits are bogged down by the interminably slow pacing. The film needed more blood, more kills, and more suspense overall to compete with even "Halloween", a slow burn itself which still manages to be ten times as entertaining. If you're a fan of 80s slashers, of course you'll still have to see it. If you're a casual horror fan, the most horrifying thing about the movie will probably the amount of time you wasted watching it.

A soon-to-be bride is stalked by a deranged serial killer in 'He Knows You're Alone'. As soon as the film start, we see a young woman murdered while watching a horror film at the theatre. It's revealed that she was about to be married in a few days, and that there is a serial killer out there who kills brides to be! Apparently this guys soon to be bride left him for another guy, so he went crazy and killed her and has killed ever since. Eventually we get to our main group of characters, including the lead female Amy who is about to be married in a matter of days. The psychopath discovers she's about to be wed, and the film surrounds him stalking her and murdering her close friends... leading to a bloody ending, and a satisfying conclusion with a twist.'He knows You're Alone' was very well done considering the year it was made, and the likely small budget it was on. The stalking scenes with the killer were paced well and creepy, you could feel him near Amy and her friends. It does have a bit of a Michael Myers feel to it, when Michael was following Laurie around the streets. The opening murder scene at the movie theatre is brilliant, and clearly 'Scream 2' took their cinema murder scene with Jada Pinkett Smith straight from this film. The acting was really good, especially from Caitlin O'Heaney (Amy) and the lovesick puppy who adores her Don Scardino (Marvin). I liked their chemistry, the movie's subplot involves Amy being torn between her fiancé who is a boring guy and Marvin who makes her (and viewers) laugh. Patsy Pease and Elizabeth Kemp are good as Amy's friends, and a young Tom Hanks puts in a great performance in his first ever movie role/acting job. It isn't a perfect film, I thought it could've used a bit more scares. Maybe could've even have the killer wear a mask of some sort to create fear, but 'He Know's You're Alone' is an underrated 80's slasher that I'd recommend to all.7/10

That opening was great! It was the old Hook cliché,but they made it into a twist! I'll admit, I don't even think I want to go to a movie theater for a while after seeing that! It's creepy how easily the person behind you can off you! I must say the title alone almost turned me away, thinking it was a rip-off of the original When a Stranger Calls. I hear "Halloween clone" a lot when hearing about the movie. It's probably that chilling music. It's distinctly reminiscent of Micheal's theme. The acting is spot on and believable. The murder scenes are by no means expected and the killer seems to pop up out of the blue, as he should! All and all, I'd encourage people to give this movie a chance! I feel this movie didn't get the proper recognition it deserved back in 1980s.
