One of the best films i have seen
Clever and entertaining enough to recommend even to members of the 1%
View MoreThe acting is good, and the firecracker script has some excellent ideas.
View MoreYes, absolutely, there is fun to be had, as well as many, many things to go boom, all amid an atmospheric urban jungle.
View MoreI'm a huge Highlander fan. I loved every movie (including all versions of part 2) and the TV show. Pretty much if you slapped the Highlander name on it I was eating it up. Then came The Source. I was away at Basic Training when this came out. My dad taped it for me and waited until I came home to watch it. Probably my third day home we plopped down and turned it on. We were both excited to see it. And holy crap was it bad. When I say it's one of the worst movies ever I mean EVER! Not just "this is a bad Highlander movie." No, out of all the movies ever made, this is a top 10 worst of all time. And even that's being a little generous. I can't even point to anything specific because it was ALL bad. I don't understand how it's so difficult to make a good highlander movie. There was no charm here. Not even the nostalgia of seeing Adrian Paul back in action did anything for me. If you're a Highlander fan, avoid this movie and pretend it was never made.
View MoreHighlander sequels have never had a glowing reputation. If I was to say it, there are only 3 Highlander films worth watching (Highlander 1, Highlander: Endgame & Highlander: The Search For Vengeance) and this movie makes them look like they should be in the Hollywood hall of fame. Before I start, let me say it is nearly impossible for me to rate something 1/10, I try and find something to compliment even if I thought it was crap (so much so that I gave Highlander 2 a 2/10).What makes this film so bad that Highlander 2 fairs a better rating? Everything that a Highlander protagonist has, Duncan(at least in this film) has not. Adrian Paul is a good actor but like Christopher Lambert is overshadowed by a really awful script that highlights him for no reason, "your impossible to corrupt", Yeah, Byee.Everything a Highlander fan will tell you about this is probably true, a priest with a blonde Mohawk, a guy that moves faster than the speed of light gets knocked down by a car, Post apocalyptic world where everyone can get enough fuel, red mist appearing and disappearing while inside a cemetery etc. There will be plenty for someone to criticize.Overall, there is no other way to describe it, this film is crap.
View MoreOkay you remember Adrian Paul and the cast from the old 1990's TV series? I admit that the TV series was corny at times but at least they tried to pull the story together in some way and used some good sword- fight scenes to spice it up.This movie is nothing like that, it has no real plot that you can follow. After watching it I am confused and appalled. It is ridiculousness beyond words for an established franchise. I have seen campy 80's horror movie sequels better put together than this.It starts out setting up what looks to be a tolerable story but after the first half an hour it fails to pick back up again. It gets worse, not only do they run around on some wild goose chase and throw random characters in without much explanation as to who they are, they use cartoonish special F/X. I and my sister ended up laughing all the way through it.As a Highlander fan I feel downright insulted by the disregard for quality in this film.
View MoreI've been reading the reviews for Highlander the Source and I have to say, I'm shocked. After viewing the movie for the first time I expected at least a few more defenders of a film that does in all honesty stay true to the TV series so many of us came to adore. Granted there are problems. That cannot be denied. For instance the ending. That should have been thought out better. Not to mention the final fight scene. I found it hard to understand why it had to look the way it did but aside from the minor problems, it's still a decent movie though not the greatest but better than fair.If you put your anger aside for the movie not being as you would expect it to be and judge it based upon a single, independent film and not part of a franchise, I suspect there would be more flavor in the reviews than just "I hate it". The movie deserves more than that I think.
