It's an amazing and heartbreaking story.

A lot of perfectly good film show their cards early, establish a unique premise and let the audience explore a topic at a leisurely pace, without much in terms of surprise. this film is not one of those films.

"Howl" is a glorious return to the old school type of werewolf movie, and it was definitely a return to the ways when werewolf movies were made efficiently and interestingly. Now, while starts out fairly slow, don't give up on the movie easily, because it takes a little while for it to get up into gear. But once it has gotten in gear, it sky rockets off for a thrill ride of great speed and with lots of thrills and excitement. The atmosphere that director Paul Hyett managed to establish in "Howl" was just phenomenal. There is a real sense of dread and fear permeating the movie, especially as the werewolves close in on the individuals trapped in the train. And the fact that most of the movie takes place in the small confined space of a train just adds to the atmosphere and to the sense of claustrophobia and despair. As for the story in "Howl", well it was quite straight forward. It seemed like it was an homage to the classic werewolf movies; the movies that I grew up with and loved. So it was particularly great to watch "Howl".The effects in the movie were quite good, and again really captured the essence of the way Hollywood used to make werewolf movies. So it was indeed a treat to behold on the screen. And the werewolves actually had quite an interesting conceptual design, and the special effects team managed to create something really great. They also had a pretty good ensemble of cast to portray the various characters and roles in the movie. I enjoyed watching Sean Pertwee in yet another werewolf movie, although it was a shame that he was not one of the main cast and only had a smaller role in the movie."Howl" turned out to be quite a nice surprise of a movie, and it is definitely a worthy addition to the werewolf genre. If you haven't seen "Howl" already and if you enjoy the werewolf movies from the 1980s and 1990s, then "Howl" will definitely appeal to you.

I read reviews about Howl that gave 2 out of 10, how is that possible? Were you watching the same film as I did?I found it genuinely scary, it kept me on the edge of my seat, and bearing in mind, I have stayed away from this genre since Dog Soldiers, It was a howling surprise to watch this Bloody Brilliant Brit-flick, after some - very - negative reactions. It had everything, night, rain, suspense, and death. It is a true British horror film in every sense. I recommend this film as a 'must watch', and as a future 'cult' favourite. A howling success! Ash

I should have known it's a waste of time watching a horror film of British extraction: they're notoriously mediocre, often quite boring. The horror flick that wants to be more a character study than to deliver thrills, which already reveals the director's inferiority complex. You see, he'd probably much rather direct dramas, but is "forced" to do some horror films first to get his foot in the door. Or something like that. The baby wants Oscars and other hollow accolades, as they all do. It's as if only egomaniacs and insecure losers go into film these days. There's the usual nonsense we associate with this type of horror flick. For one thing, the Britishers are more concerned with arguing and fighting each other than battling the monsters – to the extent where they want to actually kill each other, which only makes the film dumb as well as dull. But the award for Dumbest Scene In A 2015 British Horror Film goes to the scene when the stewardess reaches a station – all bloodied and scared (her, not the station) – and yet everyone there ignores her. A pretty daft touch to round off a fairly forgettable and unoriginal flick.Besides, is there nothing better to do than yet another predictable, unoriginal monsters-on-the-loose story? No other plot ideas? Might as well change one's job from film-maker back to pizza-delivery-boy if the height of your creativity is the zillionth version of a monster killing off passengers of a bus/train/airplane/bicycle/whatever. Boy meets girl? Nobody gives a hoot about that in a horror film. The British really need to stick to what they do best: comedy. No, wait. They suck at that too now.

Howl (2015) directed by Paul Hyett is a horror film rooted in the werewolf sub genre. the plot revolves around a group of characters who are attacked by a werewolf when their train breaks down in the middle of nowhere. they must all try to band together and survive the night.obviously the plot is nothing special. its pretty generic but it does allow the director to build some tension here and there and create some atmosphere. surprisingly though this film ends up being more of a gore fest than a spooky atmosphere drenched werewolf tale. rightfully so though, they had a decent little budget to show off some gruesome gore effects and it all looked great. so just a touch of atmosphere and loads of gore work pretty well for this film. but it does definitely limit it, causing it to fall short of being more than just a notch above average. what made films like the howling and an American werewolf in London so good was the healthy balance of gore and atmosphere, howl on the other hand just goes for the gore. the acting is OK, and the characters are all pretty likable with the exception of the generic idiot characters of course. the setting is pretty spooky but as I have already mentioned, its not used to its full potential. the film does also drag a little bit once things get going. its pretty understandable considering the plot is pretty thin. its a difficult task to make the plot go anywhere and create some great scenes without making the characters all stupid and unlikable.overall id say Howl (2015) is worth the watch and is a memorable werewolf flick. although it has its issues it has some good gore and some pretty decent creature designs and a few cool scenes, as well as a touch of atmosphere.the verdict: 6.5/10
