You won't be disappointed!

Best movie of this year hands down!

The first must-see film of the year.

While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.

I can't believe this tanked. Look, here's the trouble with rom-coms. They are SO predictable. Meet cute, have problems, get back together, live happily ever after. They really have to be exceptional to get past that predictable aspect. It's been done to death. I sense a new direction in some modern versions. This is one such. It doesn't hew to old standards of morality and Pollyanna visions of reality. In 1930, it would've been banned. It's a bit vulgar. Standard morality is out the window. And yet, there is also a certain, uncomfortable realism here. Ignore that, though, whether you agree or not. What it is, is fresh, different, and exceptionally funny. The cast sells it all quite well, too.

Maybe it's unsurprising at how odd and crude this film can be at times, but when it's directed by the guy who co-wrote 'Borat' maybe it's understandable.It's weirdly cynical for a rom-com, and usually I like a subversion of tropes in a genre but it doesn't quite work here. The two leads are unremarkable, whilst Stephen Merchant's character Danny might as well be Darren Lamb from 'Extras' with the way he's acting. It works brilliantly in 'Extras' but not so here, as he's rather insufferable.Most of the jokes unfortunately fall flat, with some dragged on for far too long, particularly with a threesome scene which became rather uncomfortable. However, the jokes that do work are fantastic and I did get some good laughs.Overall, it's an poorly-structured film with competent acting and direction. If you like farce comedy this may be for you, but it's not for me.

Rather boring and not funny.The story is boring with no surprises and ends exactly where you had guessed after a few minutes.The characters aren't credible. The acting is very average.The script desperately tries to be funny a la Foyr Weddings and a Funeral or similar, but pathetically fails. It tries to shock with some sex but fails so ridiculously it is sad. It tries to have THE big funny scene but it fails miserably. The acting is very average as if the actors were wondering why they ended up in that thing (we know they have done better elsewhere).It's not even particularly romantic: so not a "romantic comedy"I'm not sure why someone would want to watch this?

Some rom-coms can be too formulaic. Not I Give It a Year. Sometimes the lead man is funnier than the lead woman, or vice-versa. This film is chock-full of laughs, mainly stemming from Rafe Spall's stay-at-home, laid back, but often lazy book-writer. Less so for his newly-wed, Rose Byrne, who's an uptight office worker. They clearly don't match, and they obviously have feelings for other people. The gags make IGIAY more than enjoyable, as they're outrageous and often embarrassing. Hats off to the foul- mouthed Minnie Driver who's Bryne's sister, and Stephen Merchant, Rafe Spall's misogynistic best friend. The American love-interest Anna Faris and Simon Baker fair less well, but happen to be involved in two of three best scenes of the film.
