It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional

An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.

The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.

Superb film. It was clearly restricted on budget but they spent the money wisely and got something ethereal, human, fantastic and wonderful. Acting spot on. The best Neil Gaiman movie he was nothing to do with..I loved it, as did my wife. It moves quickly so you have to pay attention. But it rewards you if you do...

Ink has a really simple idea: There are two forces which fight for our souls, when we are asleep. The good one, called storyteller, give good dreams of hope and joy and happiness. The bad one, called incubus, (and this bad boys are maybe one of the frightening villains i have ever seen and i don't even know why...) give really bad nightmares including our biggest fears and anguishes. One night a little girl (Emma) gets kidnapped by a creature (Ink), who wants to give her as a sacrifice, so he can belong to the incubus. a few difficulties appear so it takes a bit longer to find his way to the leader of the incubus. In this time, the fighter, who was given the task to protect the girl tries to save Emma. She gets help from a so called "pathfinder" (Jacob), who is able to intervene the real world, which isn't possible for normal storytellers...Ink is a movie, of which i hadn't expected a lot. And to be true: at the beginning, i was disappointed, cause the clear structure of good and bad was way to simple. But with the time most of the characters became really interesting and especially Jacob is still one of my absolutely favorite movie characters of all time. The ending is amazing and i haven't seen it coming this way. The music is awesome and certainly one of the reasons, why i was moved to tears. But its the way the movie is made: The camera, the light, the colors, the atmosphere, the insanity, which make it one of the best movies i have seen in a while. Probably it could have been produced a bit better, with a few more effects or famous actors, but I think the indie, low-budget style is the best way it could have been made. So all in all: A very underestimated awesome indie- movie.

The glow... Why? To cover up the poor quality of the image? At one point a character says "anything can look good in the right light." This film proves otherwise. Most of the what's bad about the film has been mentioned in other reviews, but I just wanted to add that the fact that the film has a low budget ($250,000 apparently - not as low as I would have guessed after seeing it), doesn't excuse the terrible performance, directing and technical execution of the film.Waste of time for all involved. Anything that could have been watchable was blitzed and mangled under a haze of digital glow, jarring, obvious edits and clumsy sound.Just avoid it.

I was straight away hooked by the cinematography and music of this film. Was even more amazed that the Writer, Director also composed the soundtrack too! This story is the darker side of the heroes journey as we follow Ink on his quest of atonement. It's a must see for anyone who loves Indie Films and likes to see what other Indie Filmmakers out there are doing to continue to push the limits with the technology that is available to everyone today. You can even clearly see how they made intelligent use to tell the story out of everyday things. They made awesome props from simple stuff like electrical tape to nicknacks you might be able to puck up at the salvation army store!I am going to watch everything else Jamin Winans had his hands in after seeing "Ink"!
