View MoreJesus can't pass through the gate because Moslems are buried on the other side. The first 3rd or so was very good if you like hot young blonds in a state of undress. It goes downhill fast after that. The entire premise is ridiculous, there is an all powerful god who isn't powerful enough to come to Earth. Then the story doesn't go downhill, it falls off a cliff. It reminds me of The Omen and Boys from Brazil, but this is a perfectly good child created.God wants the original 10 commandment tablets returned for some reason.Actually this is the second set, Moses smashed the first ones in a pique of anger when the people made the golden calf.
View MoreI have read the book and I loved it. I have seen the film and I was disappointed. This film should not have been made in the first place because that would mean horrible mutilating the book. But considering this Krabbé did a good job. The acting is acceptable and the location are beautiful. Too bad the only thing left of the story were the main lines. Never film a book that is not to be filmed.
View MoreHaving read the book several times, and loving it, I was hesitant of seeing the movie. I do not normally like literature turned in to movie. It is like putting paintings into music. The movie is not all that bad, but there are several things I did not like about it. Why are the speaking English? Ridiculous, that is prostituting your language, synchronise it if you want to for the foreign market. Second, Jeroen Krabe is trying to hard and not able enough. There was a high craftsmanship in the making of it, and was filmed well, but the effects at the end where best left out. I give it an 8 out of 10. Pieter
View MoreI haven't read the book, but I the book and the film are 2 different things, so I think I have the right to give my opinion.. So boring...so over acting, so bad script..so no sense! It's ok if the main characters had to speak in English..due to the production agreement..but also the army in Cuba, just a few years after the revolution?????? And the anti-imperialism speech also in english???? And in which moment do we see Quinten to develop his interest in mystical things???
