Wonderful character development!

DipitySkillful

an ambitious but ultimately ineffective debut endeavor.

It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.

Story: It's very simple but honestly that is fine.

"Kimmy Dora and the Temple of Kiyeme" is a unique movie, let me just start out by saying that. And as such, that could be taken as a good thing or a bad thing, depending on which side of the table you are sitting.I had no idea what I was getting into here, except that it was a comedy. So, was this movie a good or bad experience for me? Well, I enjoyed it and found it to be super corny, so I will have to say a good thing. The story told in the movie is about a pair of identical twins, Kimmy and Dora (both played by Eugene Domingo). Kimmy is strict, business-minded and level-headed, while Dora is slow and mentally challenged. Bad things start to happen in their lives and to the guys they individually love. And a dark family secret becomes unveiled, and it is up to Kimmy and Dora to put an end to an old curse. As for the people cast for the various roles, then I will say that people did good jobs with their given roles. However, Eugene Domingo can be somewhat of an acquired taste. The movie was fun and had some really hilarious scenes. However, there were also many scenes that was too much, honestly, where it was just downright stupid at times, especially because many of the scenes were so over-acted. But that is part of the charm of this particular genre, I suppose. And as such, this movie might not just be in the liking of just everyone in the audience.Actually the story was well executed, with just the right amount of comedy, drama and even a pinch of horror. It was a strange and unique mixture of genres, but ultimately it worked out well enough. If you enjoy the goofy and downright silly genre there is to be found in Asian cinema, then chances are that you will enjoy watching "Kimmy Dora and the Temple of Kiyeme". 6 out of 10 stars rating from me.

I watched this with an open mind. and then I lost a bit of respect for Chris Martinez. It gets old real fast. It's bad because everything was so corny. Some funny scenes but that should be a given, It is after all a "comedy". I can't really write anything about the scenes because of spoiler warnings (I want people to read this before watching the movie). But maybe it's good for yayas and other people that really don't want to think and just spend their money on cheap laughs to escape the reality of our lives that are stuck on the rat race. 3/4 of the film I didn't really watch any more. Just stayed because of company (who wasn't enjoying the movie as well). I'm sorry but this sequel was really bad. Watch at your own risk.Edit: This is an unbiased review. I entered the movie house hoping for a cheap laugh. If you are new to The Philippines and/or are not familiar with the 'stars' in this film, chances are, you will not like it. This movie is fueled by super stars/celebrities only.
