Brilliant and touching

The film was still a fun one that will make you laugh and have you leaving the theater feeling like you just stole something valuable and got away with it.

This movie was so-so. It had it's moments, but wasn't the greatest.

Left Behind: The Movie (2000): Dir: Vic Sarin / Cast: Kirk Cameron, Brad Johnson, Chelsea Noble, Janaya Stephens, Gordon Currie: Wonderful film referencing the Biblical accounts of Revelations where the rapture has happened and those remaining seek answers. Total chaos erupts but journalist Kirk Cameron figures that he knows where to go for answers. He seeks a disc from another source that can prove useful. A flight captain arrives home to only his daughter but he soon realizes where his wife and son have gone. He finds answers within the wondrous scriptures of the Bible. It is the second coming of Christ and Cameron believes that world leaders are already being deceived by the Anti-Christ. Director Vic Sarin does a marvelous job at creating tension with Cameron bringing both intelligence and desperation as he struggles to make sense of it all. Brad Johnson as the flight attendant now realizes his wife's faith was true. Also with Chelsea Noble and Janaya Stephens among those deceived and corrupted. Based on the popular book series the result is a low budget yet satisfying portrayal of end times that seems to reasonably surpass the fine line between poor production and decent low budget filmmaking. It provides suspense as well as interesting theories for discussion for those scholars on the subject. It is a definite Biblical masterpiece with relentless power. Score: 10 / 10

This is obviously a movie in which those involved invested a great deal of effort, but even so it is in some ways a disappointing film. The film, based upon the phenomenally successful book (and series) of the same name, had a lot to work with, but clearly the budget wasn't up to the challenge of adapting the source novel with complete success. It's obvious from the battle scenes at the outset that special effects aren't going to be the movie's strength, and as the film goes on other weaknesses appear: the script is uneven, clearly struggling with regards to which elements from the novel to bring to the table, and moreover the acting, though quite good from some quarters, is of highly variable quality. The soundtrack is annoying to boot, often veering wildly off into bad pop confections that do nothing but distract from the drama.Despite its undeniable weaknesses, I think that overall Left Behind is a respectable film that is worth a watch, especially for fans of the original book. Kirk Cameron is solid in the lead, and does a lot to carry the picture through its rough patches. The script may not be well balanced, but the underlying message of the Gospel is still there. The romantic element between Buck and Chloe is surprisingly effective, though subtle, and in the end the evil embodied in the antichrist and the awful reality of the fate to which he is steering the whole planet is conveyed with a certain amount of malevolent resonance. There is no question it would have been nice to see a superior film version of the extremely popular Left Behind novel, but in reality this is not quite the cinematic disaster it could have been. Indeed, in balance, Left Behind the movie successfully overcomes many--not all, but many--of its inherent flaws.

I like these people who claim they are Christians and then use God's name in vain. They complain about seeing the Bible in a movie. They don't even know the 10 commandments! They also seem to think when you are raptured your clothes go with you? Thankfully just claiming to be something does not make it so. The hypocrite's complaining aside... This movie is one of many movies that prove you can have a great movie with ordinary Christian family values that talk about Gob but without swearing, profanities, and nudity. Others like Flywheel, Facing the Giants, Fireproof, and the best of them all: Courageous My only complaint would be that I guess when they filmed it they didn't know that T.D. Jakes is a heretic.Check out Kirk in "The Way of the Master" and at livingwaters.com
