Wonderful character development!
A Disappointing Continuation
It's not great by any means, but it's a pretty good movie that didn't leave me filled with regret for investing time in it.
View MoreAmazing worth wacthing. So good. Biased but well made with many good points.
View More**spoiler alert - but only a little** I was truly expecting horror, since I think that's Netflix categorized it, and I was ripping through em for Halloween, LOL...Anyways, comedy is much more fitting. I laughed an awful lot. I have to say, the dialog is hysterical!! Loved Lo. The main character seems lost a bit.... the Comedy and Drama were annoying, and it was filmed as if it was a play at the local high school. That being said, he didn't DISCOVER the book, she gave it to him with explicit instructions to burn it! Why it sticks in my head, I don't know, but why ever did she do that except she knew he'd USE it? It's dramatically sad - her story. The whole DEMON story. :( Anyways, cheesy makeup (his hand) with pretty darn good (Lo), throw in the singing demons, the surprise ending, and you get a really weird dramatic comedy. That's supposed to be terrifying. There's like ONE ...if that.... killing. The worthiness of the film is indeed the low budget and the way it's staged - amateurish and silly but oddly intriguing. I'd watch it. Once. :)
View MoreWhile browsing the "Horror" section of Netflix I stumbled upon this movie. It received a fairly high rating and seemed kind of like my thing. As the movie starts its blatantly obvious that this didn't belong in Horror. Its humor was some of the funniest things I have seen in an indie movie. What Lo lacked in special effects and things a more pricey movie has, made up for it with a well written script and a diverse story that kept me guessing. The bartender scene had me almost crying from laughter. While there are definitely other movies out there that are a lot more flashy and catchy. Lo has its own unique spark. I would HIGHLY recommend it to anybody who asks.
View MoreI watched this the last night with my other half. We weren't too sure what to expect but we certainly didn't expect what we got. From the moment that the demon Lo appears this film becomes something that transcends it's meagre budget. The make-up and costumes are outstanding, the pace is terrific but, most importantly, the writing sparkles and the plot grips you.Justin is a sad, awkward young man who's partner has been snatched by demons and taken to Hell. Using a book which she left behind he invokes a spell and summons the demon Lo who Justin believes can bring his lost love back to him.The story that follows the invocation is gruesome, hilarious, musical and heart-breaking. At first I had no sympathy for Justin but throughout the film he finds a strength he never knew he had and, although the film doesn't end on a happy note, he finds his true love. This film would transfer to the theatre very well (it's shot as though we are looking at a static stage) and I give it a 7.
View MoreThe movie follows the interaction of a man looking for the demon he loved who had been dragged to hell, and will do anything in his power to have her back. But he does not and never knew who she really was. The film is more about obsession and duplicity than it is about love. A lot of reviewers here may not like the film, but I found it to be quite a good use of space, presentation and story. It reminded me of college theater (I know many will take offense at that statement), and although I agree they story was watery at times, the feel of it was quite novel. I recommend it because I truly enjoyed it for what it was, because it has it's own place and time.I especially liked the parts with the little stage show, the author's writing of how these entities think and truly are, and how the demons mocked the protagonist.
