Purely Joyful Movie!

It isn't all that great, actually. Really cheesy and very predicable of how certain scenes are gonna turn play out. However, I guess that's the charm of it all, because I would consider this one of my guilty pleasures.

This movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.

I have not watched many romantic comedies and am not a huge fan of them, however I quite enjoyed the film and have given it an 8 out of 10.The plot line is quite enjoyable especially in line with the characters portrayed. The chemistry between the two lead parts (Tom - Patrick Dempsey and Hannah - Michelle Monaghan) is near perfect in the film giving an enticing feel to the story. Even if you are not a fan of this genre as am I, I would still recommend this film due to many funny scenes and moments, lots of enjoyable and funny dialogue between Patrick Dempsey and Michelle Monaghan, plus the Character Tom is a confident, enthused womaniser who is always quick witted and seems to be living the lads dream which is always enjoyable to see. Also Tom's father Thomas Sr played by Sydney Pollack is a hilarious addition to the film being an old rich man who has 5 divorces under his belt. The romance in the film is not overpowering but still suitable for the types who seek that in a movie. As the film was set in a united states city and in the Scottish highlands you get quite a contrast of scenery and people which adds an otherwise unattainable aspect to the film of enjoyability. Overall the film was definitely worth a watch and suitable for non romantic comedy lovers - it's a nice chill out film. Oh and I forget to mention that Michelle Monaghan is pretty damn hot!!!

I am not the biggest fan of romantic comedies/chick flicks, but there have been some I have genuinely enjoyed. Made of Honour, while I have seen much worse, is not one I enjoyed. It is worth noting for some striking production values and a beguiling soundtrack, other than that it is a miss.My problems with this movie starts with the title, please, that pun of a title is appalling and even thinking about it makes me cringe. And I had exactly the same perception even before seeing the movie. Another major problem is that the characters are not sympathetic or likable in the slightest, the lead character especially is a complete sleaze-ball. Also the characters here are little more than cliché after cliché and bland stereotypes.A lot of plots in romantic comedies are predictable, here is no exception. But this plot is also unrealistic and clichéd, and in terms of the pace and direction the film is a slog. I also disliked the ending, not only was it as predictable as the rest of story but it was also pure fantasy of the highest order. The acting is not very good unfortunately, like I couldn't connect to any of the characters I don't think a vast majority of the actors could connect with them either. There is one good performance and that comes from Sydney Pollack, but Patrick Dempsey while dashing is too earnest for the lead and Michelle Monaghan comes across as rather limited. Hardly surprising, with the dialogue being as terrible as it was.All in all, a daft, predictable and clichéd romantic comedy with a few good points. 3/10 Bethany Cox

A truly awful film, "Made Of Honor" should've been in contention for Razzi awards. It is so awfully made by the numbers for the masses that you'll be hard-pressed not to turn it off fairly quickly. We stuck it out through truly sad attempts at comedy and some of the worst screen-writing dull as ever. (spoilers) The story starts out relevant, but throws the whole thing out about 15 min into the run-time. It loses any weight after that, and you've got inane gossipy dialog milked for as much honey as possible, and terrible group-hug basketball pick-up games with supposed guy-talk. You can guess the outcome and story right after the 15 min prologue, and that sets off 4-alarm trash-heap sirens. Skip this complete turkey. If you're looking for a better movie of the same genre catch "The Proposal".

This is an attractively filmed romantic comedy. The Scottish locations are pretty. Monaghan isn't the prettiest actress - sometimes her face looks a bit pig like like a younger Marcia Gay Harden but she's a competent actress. Patrick Dempsey is looking a bit haggard for the role. He's a bit old for this romantic comedy genre. One annoying part of the story - why did she break up with the Scottish fiancé - just cause he won't let her take food from her plate? Trivial. Why her mother prefers Patrick Dempsey is a mystery too.Watch it if you don't have anything else to see but it's not a must see.
