Great visuals, story delivers no surprises
Best movie of this year hands down!
I have absolutely never seen anything like this movie before. You have to see this movie.
View MoreAt first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
View MoreSharon Cuenta plays 'Monique', a beautiful, famous Filipina performer who has gone into hiding by cutting her hair and adding a mole on her face to appear as common 'Digna'. Robin Padilla is 'Carding' a simple pickpocketer, who along with Dennis Padilla as his bumbling partner in crime 'Libob', steal everything from wallets to car stereos in order to feed and raise 6 young orphans all of whom the 8 of them live in a shack in the ghettos of the city. One fateful night, Digna and Carding cross paths and their lives begin to take on more drama and adventure than they've ever gone through. Digna learns of Carding's plight raising 6 orphans and his star stuck crush of her alter ego 'Monique', while Carding can't seem to figure out the secrets Digna is hiding and why she runs away so much. Edu Manzano is 'Gilbert', a man from Digna's past who is determined to find her and bring her back to the house she runs away from. The film is a bit long and the story lines are drawn out from extensions of the difference characters in the films. But it is dramatic enough for women to enjoy and a bit of action for the guys to watch.
