The story begins on a small spaceship docking with a refueling station. On board are a group of four aliens, Bernard, Sandra, Desmond, and Julian. During a particularly tedious period of their stay at the station, the other three begin playing with the ship’s controls while Bernard is outside playing spaceball. They accidentally disconnect his part of the ship, leaving him stranded while they crash into a large blue planet close by...

I gave this film a 9 out of 10, because it was exactly what I expected it to be.

Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.

I remember watching this one when it was released, what with Alas Smith and Jones being a fairly popular sketch show at the time, and my feelings now are as they were then: This film is kind of okay, but by no stretch of the imagination any good either. It doesn't even feel much like a Smith and Jones film for some reason. The Tall Guy had more of that vibe. This one has pre-Universal popularity Jimmy Nail as one of three stupid aliens that end up on Earth and become popular even though, as the titles reveals, they're from space. And Mormons or whatever else the title says.Mel on the other hand is the other alien that ends up on the other side of the world trying to get to his mates. Most of the genuine laughs come from Mel's side, what with the space suit sneezing and the Ken Kesey homage. Jones is kind of wasted in an Ernie Wise type role. Jimmy Nail is quite good (as he was in the eighties) as the alcoholic alien. The others involved are very 'Ealing' in their approach, which isn't funny at all. It's up to you. I only write these reviews so I can keep track of what I watch.

This is simply and unfunny film to me. I didn't even get a slight giggle out of what I saw in the beginning... so I fast-forwarded, played & watched, fast-forwarded again and didn't find anything to capture my interest at all and never did I laugh nor did I give a slight giggle.I like quite a few nonsensical, stupid comedies but this film just didn't do it for me. I also have enjoyed quite a number of British comedies from TV shows to movies but this film is just lame to me. Morons in Outer Space is an appropriate title for the film but they are unfunny morons. The film isn't completely 100% trash that's why I'm giving it 2 stars out of 10 instead of rating it with a 1 star but it's not a good film to me.2/10

Several dim-witted aliens crash-land their spaceship on Earth. Opportunistic small-time television reporter Graham Sweetley (nicely played by Griff Rhys Jones, who also co-wrote the blithely silly and crafty script with Mel Smith) exploits the aliens by transforming them into celebrities. Director Mike Hodges relates the enjoyably dippy story at a snappy pace and pitches the amusingly off the wall humor at an uproariously broad level (the climactic rock concert set piece in particular is absolutely sidesplitting!). The game cast has a field day with the wacky material: Jimmy Nail as the boozy Desmond Block, Joanne Pierce as the ditsy, but sexy Sandra Brock, Paul Brown as amiable dolt, and especially Smith as the hapless Bernard are all extremely engaging as the lovably idiotic extraterrestrials, Dansdale Landen is a complete stitch as the smitten Commander Grenville Matteson, and James B. Sikking almost steals the whole show with his spot-on deadpan portrayal of paranoid fanatic Col. Raymond Laribee. Moreover, for all its rampant stupidity this movie does deliver a slew of clever sight gags, sly touches of deliciously dry'n'droll British wit (Bernard's odd encounter with a rotting skeleton spacecraft pilot who briefly gives him a lift rates as a definite gut-busting surreal highlight), and inspired send-ups of such famous films as "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" and "Close Encounters of the Third Kind." Both Phil Meheux's polished cinematography and the zany score by Peter Bewis are up to speed. A total hoot.

I remember when MORONS FROM OUTER SPACE it was criticised as being just about the worst British film ever made ! What you mean it`s worse than REMEMBER ME THIS WAY where Gary Glitter plays a tough macho sex god ? I don`t think so .I will say this movie is very patchy mainly down to the small budget and a dual plot , something that`s not seen either very often or very successfully in film script structure . The scenes featuring Bernard are funny especially the " Are you male or female ? " scene but the ones set in England are slightly tedious and do lack a focus .Yeah it`s hard to imagine that the director of this made both GET CARTER and FLASH GORDON but surely any self respecting IMDB addict can sit back and enjoy this movie due to the referrances . Let`s see now THE QUATERMASS EXPERIMENT , a line of dialogue snatched from BRIDGE OVER THE RIVER KWAI , oh what`s that movie with Jack Nicolson in a lunatic asylum ? ....
