A shipwreck strands a modern Italian businessman on a desert island. Like Robinson Crusoe he must find a way to return to civilization; unlike him--he's a 20th-century man, a totally different case.

Good concept, poorly executed.

Usamah Harvey

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.

Robi and his wife reside in a big industrial city. Just your average couple who are caught up in a fast paced, gadget saturated life. They indulge themselves in an artificial food as they enjoy their technology oriented world. However,Robi's life turns upside down as they decide to go on a cruise for some long overdue vacation time. Unfortunately, when the cruise ship gets caught up in a storm, Robi finds himself in a modern day(by modern I mean 1976)Robinson Crusoe story. I saw this movie for the first time, back when I was 9 years old. Recently, I managed to stumble on it in a video shop. After all these years, this movie still can stand as one of the funniest that I have ever seen. Very enjoyable, satisfying comedy. If you manage to get your hands on a copy, check it out. All around a good comedy movie.

Of all Paolo Villaggio characters - Robbi - is most well-balanced - to my opinion. It is not as "overly-pathetic" as Fantozzi. Au contre... In fact "Il Signor Robinson" as a movie - contains some very well written characters. Simple - but not dumb. Some scenes - I think - are exotic, unique and elegant from comical perspective. For example - I've never seen anything - like a scene - with crushed Coke can washed ashore - and the tribal chief. Actually - I was wondering - did Coca-Cola company know about it at all? I believe it was a major "Burn!" All and all that piece of comedy is timeless. I will always recommend this one to comedy fans worldwide.
