I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

Purely Joyful Movie!

The acting in this movie is really good.

The joyful confection is coated in a sparkly gloss, bright enough to gleam from the darkest, most cynical corners.

Young lovers Hero and Claudio, soon to wed, conspire to get verbal sparring partners and confirmed singles Benedick and Beatrice to wed as well. Much Ado About Nothing is a 1993 film based upon William Shakespeare's Play and it was directed by Kenneth Branagh who also stars in the film. Now i'm not a big Shakespeare fan but i did enjoy this movie although i was very much disappointed on Keanu Reeves his character and acting were very wooden and almost forgettable, Robert Sean Leonard's attempt on trying drama is laughable but his character was alright for the most part and the overall acting was good but Kenneth Branagh and Emma Thompson are the real bright stars of this film they basically steal every scene that they are in with their characters and their chemistry. Denzel Washington is also really good as well as always of course and Michael Keaton as Dogberry was hilarious from start to finish to bad that he is in the film for about 15 minutes tho but overall good movie i really enjoyed it it's not one of the best movies that any of these actors have participated but it's definitely not one of their worst ones. (7.4/10)

I first watched this film in an English lesson, when learning about the play/book it was based upon. I was immediately surprised to see such a famous cast including such big names and Kenneth Branagh, Denzel Washington, Keanu Reaves and Kate Beckinsale, along with other successful actors in smaller roles like Brian Blessed and Michael Keaton. In addition to this, this fantastic cast was not at all wasted, in that they performed their lines brilliantly and really helped you to enjoy each unique character. The writing and cinematography was also very impressive, though if i had one particular critique it would be how they often just straight-out repeated lines from the play, even going as far as to mimic entire scenes, word-for-word. This wouldn't be too much of a problem, and instead help develop the environment, had the lines been less excessive, and not sometimes just feel out of place, like they were saying them simply for the sake of it. However, in general the film was still very enjoyable and a fun watch if you are looking for an interesting film with plenty of comedy interesting, well performed characters.

To review this, I have to try look at it from the perspective of the time it was made. Yes, it is as energetic, enchanting and witty today as I'm sure it was then, but the cheesiness and insta-love are a given - considering the period it was made and the fact that it's Shakespeare. I'm overlooking that because, frankly, this is Shakespeare. It's what you have to expect. It's visually enchanting; and with an excellent – very fitting – soundtrack and superb directing. Branagh makes everything flow beautifully and has adapted the play to the screen effortlessly and tenderly, with wonderful comic detail. The cinematography is decent, although nothing special. Emma Thompson dazzles alongside Branagh with radiance and energy, and both of them light up the screen with passionate chemistry, flawless acting, and gorgeous banter and wit. Shakespeare's lines spark effortlessly from their lips and both of them take up their roles perfectly with elegance and pure talent. Together, Thompson and Branagh light up the screen and deliver rich performances. Kate Beckinsale, Micheal Keaten, and Robert Sean Leonard all give strong performances; Keaten and Beckinsale especially. I preferred the movie's interpretation of Keaten's character – Dogberry – a lot more than the original play's version. The movie made him a drunk, which I thought worked a lot better, and he was believable, comic, and altogether enjoyable to watch. Denzel Washington was also brilliant; he was a real highlight for me. He fitted the character of Don Pedro perfectly and was entirely convincing and fully characterised. Keanu Reeves got a lot of criticism for his part in this film, and while I don't think he was awful, he definitely wasn't up the standard of the others. He was shallow, wooden, and the American accent just didn't work. It seems obvious he got the role because of his looks. Overall, "Much Ado About Nothing" was a beautiful, entertaining, humorous and purely enjoyable ride. I really liked it :D

Much Ado About Nothing 1993 is one of the most boring and worst films released in 1993.where is the plot its just everyone talking nonsense and what the hell were actors like Kate Bekinsale,Denzel Washington & Keanu Reeves were doing here wasting their talents.the dialogs are written by kids almost everything is below average including direction & locations,there is no comedy here & no romance this film is a lie.1993 was a great year it had many great cinematic releases like hard target,sleepless in Seattle but this one is boring piece of junk.much ado about nothing 1993 is a waste of time & money my rating for this is 1/10:Avoid it at all costs.
