Intense, gripping, stylish and poignant
A waste of 90 minutes of my life
A brilliant film that helped define a genre
This movie was so-so. It had it's moments, but wasn't the greatest.
View MoreI wasn't expecting much from this Spanish splatter effort but I'm glad that I can write a positive review. I caught "Mucha Sangre" on a splatter/gore local festival in Mèxico, along with "Nekromantik" and "Cannibal Holocaust".I didn't care for the first minutes of "Mucha Sangre" because it wasn't defined if it was a Black Comedy, or a straight Horror movie. But after 20 minutes it was clear that this was a Black Comedy with TONS of blood, and gore. De las Heras obviously spoofed these movies: "Perdita Durango"- the characters clothes, hair styles, the plot situation, the sex scene (very steamy I must say), etc."The Texas Chainsaw Massacre"- the hilarious scene where Cortaojos slaughters the zombie at the tone of an Opera."Evil Dead 2"- all the blood, gore, non sense scenes, the object in the mouth, the zombie women costumes, etc."Braindead"- all the gore, f/x, death scenes, etc."El Dia de la Bestia"- the main characters, dialogs, black humor, etc.Overall, "Mucha Sangre" is a hilarious Black Comedy with hysterical lead characters and a weird plot that will make you wonder if the director and writer were on drugs. The whole zombie concept and how to stop them is funny and works for the movie's atmosphere. There are some funny scenes that not necessary are Horror related. For example, when Cortaojos looks at his girlie watch, or how Cortaojos and his partner wear tree costumes. The excessive violence and blood is a plus and it will please fans of gore. I must admit that at some point I thought this was a rip-off of Alex de la Iglesia's brilliant "El Dìa de la Bestia"; but it isn't'. It's probably inspired by it but "Mucha Sangre" is a stand alone movie with a lot to offer. I would recommend it for people who enjoy movies that do not follow any coherence. My advice is, watch this movie with low expectations and be patient with it. It starts slow but once you get hooked in, you will have a great time. Leave your brain in your bed, watch "Mucha Sangre", and enjoy it! It's nothing more than a gory Spanish comedy. Good effort. If you can track this one, do it. You won't regret.
View MoreYeah, like all the others, I also do love this picture! Although it is a low budget movie, the shootout-scenes (in the Alien-Bar) are very well done. It almost seems that John Woo has directed this scene! The humor of the film is actually comparable with Peter Jackson's Bad Taste! Have a look at the Alien-Bosses at the end of the film...they look like the puppets of "Sesame-Street"! (alluson of "Meet the Feebles"?) The actors are not so well known, but the locations (mostly in the "Comarca de Guadix", Granada) like the town Abla, where the Alien-Bar is, are known by Spaghetti-Western Freakes! Near Abla is La Calahora e.g. There were shot many scenes from "Once upon a time in the West" Must be seen!!!!!
View MoreAmazing, unoriginal, gore, horror, comedy, parody, action packed, and zombie attack & alien invasion flick movie!!Spain is great, yeah! Mucha sangre (Very Blood) is a movie what spoof horror/fantasy/action 80s movies (evil dead, bad taste, chainshaw massacre, the killer, critters, demons..)Blood, blood, blood, gore , action (matrix-low-budget), shootguns, dead, dead, dead, aliens...!!! Heavy metal group's "Mojinos Escozios" are cameo here.Great low-budget Spanish movie, and failure-film sadly world-wide
