Awesome Movie
If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.
View MoreA newly recruited night security guard at the Museum of Natural History discovers that an ancient curse causes the animals and exhibits on display to come to life and wreak havoc. Night at the Museum is the first of the 3 films in the Museum Trilogy and stars Ben Stiller and Robin Williams and although the film received mostly mixed reviews i still found it to be very entertaining and relaxing and although the humor is for sure silly it's a film that was mostly made for kids and their parents and if you know what you're getting into you are going to enjoy this movie a lot plus all the actors did a great job with the material that was given to them and the special effects looked pretty believable and kids will definitely love this movie. (8/10)
View MoreI'm perplexed with this movie because the best goes along the worst. Thus, the idea of museum exhibits becoming alive is really original and as usual only Americans could guess it while my french fellows have a big hole for imagination! For sure, the magic explains all because it's really extraordinary that wax or toys people gain also character and attitude! However this brilliant idea is badly beaten by the result because those 3 nights of mayhem are too much repetitive! (for that, the sequel is more straightforward!). Next, the father character is interesting as for one time, we have at last a character doing a ordinary job! However he is also really bizarre: as other American movies, we can see that being jobless means also being a bit crazy! Next, his divorce is also the usual Cliché: the new father has as expected a true job (bond broker!) but the old father wins the heart of the kid as being fantastic! At least, the cast is so-so: Stiller is funny only half the time that means that the other half time he is really a dolt! Wilson does his usual irritating Wilson. If i give 7, it's only because of this original idea and the simple pleasure to meet again late Robin in a familial movie!
View MoreNight at the Museum (2006): Dir: Shawn Levy / Cast: Ben Stiller, Robin Williams, Carla Gugino, Owen Wilson, Steve Coogan: Embarrassing mess that plays like a chemistry experiment gone wrong. It regards facing fears as if viewing the film wasn't a big enough task. Ben Stiller is newly employed at a museum of natural history where everything miraculously comes to life. The special effects are about as fetching as guessing what food someone upchucks when sick. Setup is rushed into a routine structure consisting of Stiller dealing with mishaps. Director Shawn Levy can do better as he did with Just Married. He also directed Cheaper by the Dozen and The Pink Panther. Stiller is basically a subject for target practice as he struggles to maintain order. Robin Williams plays 26th President Teddy Roosevelt whom comes to life to give Stiller words of wisdom, none involving torching this film unfortunately. Carla Gugino is wasted as a museum historian who is basically seen as a potential romantic prop. She is also the museum tour guide who wasn't lucky enough to give these people a tour of a better film set. Owen Wilson plays a miniature cowboy in a miniature role. Similar to Jumanji only much worse. The norm is the special effects, which is hardly a complimentary element in the film. Despite the imagination, this film is about as boring as History class. Score: 2 / 10
View MoreA Night At The Museum stars Ben Stiller, Carla Gugino, Dick Van Dyke, Mickey Rooney, Bill Cobbs, Jake Cherry, Ricky Gervais, Owen Wilson, Steve Coogan, and Robin Williams with varying screen time and success. Plot In A Paragraph: Larry Daley (Ben Stiller) is divorced, unable to keep a stable job, and has failed at his many business ventures. His ex-wife (Kim Raver) believes that he is a bad example to their ten-year-old son Nicky (Jake Cherry), and Larry fears that Nick respects his future stepfather, bond trader Don (Paul Rudd), more than him. He gets a job as a night watchman at New York City's American Museum of Natural History and subsequently discovers that the exhibits, animated by a magical Egyptian artifact, come to life at night.Stiller does his usual Ben Stiller routine. Owen Wilson is basically his character from "Shanghai Noon" simply replacing Jackie Chan with Steve Coogan. Ricky Gervais is incredibly annoying as he over acts. However Robin Williams steals the show as Theodore Roosevelt.Carla Gugino is awfully under used!! Not quite a love interest, but someone we should care about being upset, without really knowing her. A total waste of her considerable talents. Likewise Paul Rudd, who is neither the evil step father, nor the dastardly new husband of the main characters ex wife. Instead he turns up once looking like a douche, and once more looking like a good guy. A total waste. Both characters should have been expanded or wrote out!! Speaking of being wrote out. The kid could have been wrote out too!! A pointless character, except to give Stiller's character a reason to get a "real job" I did enjoy eating this movie with my 9 year old son. If he wants to watch it again I will not mind, as it was an easy 90 minutes or so.
