What makes it different from others?

I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

Also, swimming in the open ocean is always dangerous.. usually at least one person will watch for sharks.. they love to see what is splashing around on the surface.. also, a ladder or rope or both is always a must.. but really, all hands should never be in the water at once...so this crew was pretty stupid.. the ocean can kill you many ways... like everything else, if you ain't paying attention, life can sure make you pay.. these ninnies shouldn't have been in anything but a small neighborhood pool on floats.

Why is there not a single sea animal throughout this movie? Even when the guys start getting idiotically beaten up with their blood in the water? You're telling me that wouldn't/didn't attract a single shark? They're in the middle of the ocean for crying out loud! The first Open Water I can buy because it seemed pretty realistic but not this one.

I see there's a lot of discussion on this film about "they should have tried this" ~ but I just couldn't get my brain past the part where SIX, count 'em, 6, IDIOT adults jump into the water & no one checks to see if there's a way back up! After that, any character who dies is just Natural Selection, so I didn't care about any of them. Obviously made only to cash in on Open Water, & one of the dumbest non-supernatural thrillers I've seen in years.

I just open water few days ago, I didn't think all that great at all. If you think open water had no plot , then this movies actually as not plot to story. A least open water had sharks in the movies, I did expect to sharks in this movie.We just see bunch good looking in mid 20 or early 30, who get stuck in water.That is actually plot and I just could not care about anyone in this movie, I just found them very annoying 2 out of 10
