Intense, gripping, stylish and poignant
Boring
I am only giving this movie a 1 for the great cast, though I can't imagine what any of them were thinking. This movie was horrible
View MoreStory: It's very simple but honestly that is fine.
When I watched the movie, I didn't realize it was based on reality. Sure, nobody knows the actual events or conversations that took place, but it should be a wake up call. Even if traveling and exploring as a couple, people should converse with other passengers so they will immediately be missed. Sure the movie was boring in places, but it was based on reality, not for excitement. It is truly sad this couple was left behind and never rescued.
View MoreThe trailer is nothing like the movie. Good enough story, but everything about it looks like a home-made movie. Bad acting, terrible audio, horrendous cinematography, fake Katherine Heigl.
View MoreI liked this movie for what it is: Couple are left behind in ocean, wait to die or get rescued. Dont know until end which is will be.But this one has a plot hole the size of the ocean. Blanchard Ryan is gorgeous. She is fully nude early on and unforgettable. She and boyfriend get on boat with maybe 10 other people plus 3 in crew. Ryan is clearly the only gorgeous woman on board. But when the couple fail to return on time, no one on board notices her missing? In real life, EVERY guy and most of the women noticed her and would notice if she wasnt back on board. Yet the story would come apart if someone did notice so they just ignored the obvious.
View MorePeople thought this was a good movie?Sorry to say but all these positive reviews, in my opinion, as false advertising. Never have I been as bored through a movie. Never in my life. We have two people trapped in the middle of the ocean, talking to each other, and that's it. The plot? "Two scuba drivers are trapped in the ocean, surrounded by blood thirsty sharks." I'm sorry? Nothing shark related happened until 40 minutes into this hour and 19 minute movie. Nothing happened of actual excitement until an hour into the movie. The ending was nothing special and answered no questions whatsoever. Based on the true story this is based off, I guess that neither of them survive. The only reason I continued to watch this were the beautiful cinematography shots and that's the only reason this got three stars from me. If it was movie alone, this would be a 0-1 star straight away. This entire movie is just close ups of them bobbing along in the ocean, occasionally crying or sometimes they have some actual drama or someone yelling in pain at something that no one can actually see. The entire dialogue was weak, and the outburst of one of the characters just made me roll my eyes. The acting in this was poor, and I have never seen such horrible characters on screen before. They were dull, completely one dimensional and had nothing to them that made me like them, nor feel like these could be real people. Considering this was based off of the true story of Tom and Eileen Lonergan in 1998, the characters should have felt like real people."This movie was supposed to be suspenseful!" Well the movie creators were absolutely terrible at creating that suspense. If this had been done in a short, then maybe it would have worked better. But the continuous same frames and constant characters in the water just got boring. The suspense was good at first, when they're looking for the boat at the start of the movie (anyone else notice they were in the shadow of the camera boat when looking for it?) but after that it just slowly dissipated into boredom. There was barely any suspense after this. When we have the scene at night, the suspense begins to grow, but then we don't get to see anything at all and it just becomes audio boredom instead.Overall, this movie was a massive fail. It could have been so much better and so much more interesting. It has so much promise, but it's just pathetic. It was an hour and 19 minutes, and I felt like it took me three or four hours to get through this. I really regret watching this and I definitely will not be watching Open Water 2: Adrift.
