not as good as all the hype
I am only giving this movie a 1 for the great cast, though I can't imagine what any of them were thinking. This movie was horrible
View MoreA story that's too fascinating to pass by...
Mostly, the movie is committed to the value of a good time.
View MoreAfter a bank robbery which involved a few killings, Josiah (Luke Wilson) a bounty hunter is called in. The gang pulls up at a farmhouse with two daughters which has its own hidden demons. The film includes dark humor, plenty of killing with blood splatter, and an inkling of "A Dirty Western." I hated to see Aunt Ester (Frances Fisher) die, (sorry for that plot spoiler, but then again you can count the survivors on one hand). At two hours the film dragged on as it spent too much time at the farmhouse, which they could have consolidated. This is not your typical western, written, directed, and produced by JT Mollner who managed a good job at consolidating all that in one credit. Many facial close-ups of Francesca Eastwood. Film is a bit raw.Guide: F-word. Sex, rape. Male rear nudity.
View More... but probably the worst film I have ever seen. The plot, the history, the dialogues, the performance and the exaggerated violence and incest makes this story awful. It by far the worst film I have seen in my adult age and probably in my whole life. After seeing this the questions rumble into my head... what did the cast, the producers an any participant think when they saw the script? I cannot think of any reason why anybody would put money into a movie this bad. The cast most have been in real economical problems since they participated in it.
View MoreOther reviewers might tell you the movie is boring, drawn out, and gratuitous. This reviewer however will keep it short and simple. If you like character driven and dark inquiries into the human condition and blurred lines between good and evil, then this movie is for you. It may not be your typical action packed gritty western of white hats and black hats, but it makes up for it with intrigue, dialogue, and story line.
View MoreOK, It is, shall I say, a very eclectic movie. I keep coming back to this movie and once I got over the graphic nature shown throughout, I begin to see it as a real gem. Francesca Eastwood is absolutely incredible. What is it about her that is so fascinating? Beside really good acting? The score is way out in "left field" but, I really like it now. I also like how it was shot and the colour grading too. Both fairly traditional for a Western. Arriflex 435. Cult movie? it may very well be!
