It’s an especially fun movie from a director and cast who are clearly having a good time allowing themselves to let loose.
View MoreIn truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.
View MoreEasily the biggest piece of Right wing non sense propaganda I ever saw.
View MoreThe movie runs out of plot and jokes well before the end of a two-hour running time, long for a light comedy.
View MoreIf you are looking for a light, easy, and funny film then this should hit the spot.I don't know why there are so many low ratings for this - it is what it is. The acting is brilliant and the characters are believable and brought to live by brilliant acting.I haven't seen the original with Goldie Hawn so wasn't comparing - just enjoying a light and funny movie.
View MoreThey needed to remake a movie from 87', the original plot would sound too 'overboard' the political correctiness yatch. Having a man basically kidnapping a rich, young and beautiful girl? naahh... So what did they do? They swapped the genders so with the feminist wave it could look ok for a woman to kidnap a man, use him as a labor, abuse him and basically rape him. Some might say the movie is just a stockholm syndrome justified.Apart from this discussion, the movie has some flaws. The two main actors are very bad, the plot is predictable, you don't really get the feeling of the movie, it never makes you think she is really poor. But, the movie can make you laugh, i laughed at it sometimes. Overall, it is not a bad movie, it's just not good either.
View MoreAnother disgusting product of corporatism and postmodernism. They have been spewing open man-hate propaganda for 15yrs now. Sick.
View MoreI must admit I was a bit apprehensive after reading some of the reviews here, but now having seen this and the original, I realise when rereading the reviews here that many of them come off as "anti-liberalist" and racist, by which I mean they have no more complaint about the movie than how "PC" it is and how many "mexicans" there are. So if that sounds like something you'd say, this might not be the film for you. However, if the (relative) lack of female objectification and sexual harrassment sounds like something you'd enjoy, this film might be for you! The film feels much less like a film having a laugh at torturing a (rich) woman by making her do woman things she doesn't know how to do, and instead like having a laugh at rich people who don't know how to do ordinary things. The film is a lot less questionable in terms of its content than the original, and honestly, feels more wholesome and family oriented. I can genuinely believe that the main guy learns to love these kids and become a part of their family, and that they love him for that. (I don't buy it so much in the original). The characters all feel real and their goals and desires tangible. The film works best (in my opinion) as a romance-based film, not so much a comedy though. In particular, one of the last few scenes ruined the ending a little as it tried to make a joke that for me fell totally flat *and* ruined some of the romance element. In short, I honestly can't see why people prefer the original over this, this film has so much more heart and love inside it.
