A schoolboy proves so helpful to the police that they take him on as an undercover detective, but he is incapable of distinguishing the letter of the law from the human frailty it is there to defend.Thoughtful, watchable comment on blind subservience to 'the code', with a precocious hero whose innocence is at once the reason for our sympathy and his major fault. A possible allegory about fledgling democracies, or even Communist states, succumbing to ruthless idealism.
