SERIOUSLY. This is what the crap Hollywood still puts out?

The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.

This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.

I really wanted to like this film as I thoroughly enjoyed the original movie, and despite some shortcomings, liked part 2 as well. The premise and idea of the high rise location and use of mirrors was original and an example of thinking outside of the box. But in the end, at least for me, this film didn't work for several main reasons. First off....I felt bad watching the movie knowing that despite Heather O'rourke's excellent performance, she was suffering from serious health issues and ultimately would pass away before the film was completed. I feel the same way about the Three Stooges short "Half Wits Holiday" with Curly Howard deeply ill and ultimately not able to complete the short. Just difficult when you can remember her in past films, TV shows, and commercials in perfect health and not obviously sick. Second....the cast's acting was overblown, cliche, and almost spooflike, giving both O'rourke and Zelda Rubinstein no support whatsoever.(both actresses held over from the previous films still giving 100%)...the writing was truly terrible with cringe-worthy lines.... "Carol Ann!" X 150! I can compare this to an awful baseball team loaded with bad rookies but with one or two veteran all stars still hitting home runs yet the game is still lost. Third....bad attempts with effects to try to generate scares. This film had so much potential to be a great psychological thriller through its creative use of mirrors and setting. Even with a low budget it could have been pulled off, but this falls flat with use of such gems as melting wax faces, condensed air, and other cliche' 80's slasher tricks. Writing, scoring, proper acting, and timing could have done the trick nicely. Can you just imagine Heather O'rourke acting in a tense manner with nothing but dead silence and slow room sweeps before a jump scene takes place? Could have been great. Finally.....and to nobody's fault but fate itself...the loss of a beloved young performer. Like I said above, it was difficult to watch a hugely talented young lady perform her heart out despite the shortcomings of the film, and her own looming health crisis and knowing that even before the film hit the theaters she had died. In my opinion, the movie should have been scrapped just on that event alone.

It looked pretty eighties. The use of practical effects was fantastic as everything looked so real! The use of mirrors must have been a nightmare to film. The ghost world scenes looked especially good. The movement was nice but some cuts were a little jarring. The sound was mostly good. Some of the vocal filters used were a bit extreme. The music was subtle and good. Shame it was stereo but it wasn't such a big deal. It was a little cheesy. The acting (or possibly direction) was not that great and they seemed like they were reading lines most of the time. The ending felt very forced and rushed. I liked the theme of mirrors instead of a TV but overall it is obviously the weakest of the trilogy although never boring so ultimately entertaining and that is what you want, right? Easily the weakest of the trilogy but still an entertaining conclusion.

Sent to live with her relatives, a young girl finds that the evil preacher who has targeted her in the past has returned once again seeking to go into the light side with her help and tries to put an end to his reign of terror on her and her family once and for all. This here wasn't all that bad of a sequel in the series. Among the better qualities here is that this one at least attempts some new ideas as the move into the urban area rather than the suburbs or countryside is more than welcome and allows for some traps that might be from an unknown source. That the whole film mostly takes place inside the apartment complex is the main source of scares in the film, with the scenes in here coming from an unexpected action occurring from a familiar location. There's the scene at the window while the series of hallway mirror gags are some of the most suspenseful ones in the entire series as they range from trying to pull her into the mirror to the ghosts appearing unexpectedly in the reflections along the wall, and are quite imaginative and clever. There's also the appearance in the garage that really leaps out of the screen, as does the rather chilling hypnosis session at the school where she demonstrates what's really going on. The last half hour is undoubtedly the best of the film as all sort of great scenes come up and the pace quickens as the film really picks up once the spirits attack, from retrieving the daughter and finding out their real identities to the spectacular series of encounters in the frozen kitchen and finally the fun action scenes in the garage that are far more enjoyable than they really should be. This alone makes the film exciting and watchable. Aside from those, there really wasn't a lot else going on. It's biggest problem is that it just lags a lot in the beginning with needless and uncommonly grating exposition that is hard to get through. It's what really hurts the film, as it just makes it a chore to sit through at points with everyone just continually shouting the girls' name seemingly every other sentence. The cheesiness of the film is also a hurting factor since there's no real jump scares in it and it has to rely on it's shock moments, but after that there's really nothing to the film. It's a real shame as this had a lot of potential, but with one cheesy, over-the-top scene featuring cheesy ghost dimensions just wears you out. The middle section is the most obvious example, as too much time is spent on the initial discovery of the haunted apartment while the teen antics on display are also a great distraction, feeling entirely out of place and in no real help to the film. It could've easily been taken out with no real damage done. The last flaw here is the film's overlong finale that goes for way too many endings and should've ended sooner. Otherwise this one wasn't all that bad.Rated PG-13: Violence, Language and children-in-jeopardy.

Well, this is the last movie for this amazing young girl and it's just my saddest mourning for an artist ! She was just a lovable, funny, bright kid and an extraordinary actress as well : here, she has really a lot of screen time before she is abducted (again) and she is just excellent ! This last movie was promising because it was a break for the franchise : after the suburb, the country, now, it's the steel of Chicago Skycrapers. In a way, it reminds me of « die hard » or « gremlins 2 » and maybe « Shining » as the entire movie happens in a new, high-tech building that becomes a dangerous place. The mirror-game is a good idea for tension and fear and « Donna Hayward » and Skerit are efficient arrivals. But, unfortunately, that's all because as soon as Heather disappeared and a short breather from the psychic Tangina back for a last time, the movie just falls apart : it's only a hide-and-game in a malfunctioning building : there are no horrific visions, demons, just cold, smoke and water and shouts of names and « help me ». Allen participates in this disappointment as she seems grumpy and not really caring for her niece. Again, i can't explain Kane's obsession with Carol-Anne and her need for the light. At the end, the movie just stops abruptly without resolving some questions (what about the Doppelganger ? why no final words from the family ?). But, it's a bit hollow to comment beyond because we all know what would have been great! So, Heather, now that you are really on the other side, i really hope that you are happy and if you can, try to reach us as well...
