The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.

It's hard to see any effort in the film. There's no comedy to speak of, no real drama and, worst of all.

There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes

The film effectively conveys that money can't buy love, and that the simplest things in life might conjure the most wonderful moments or memories. Don't be pretentious - just be yourself, as simplicity will bring forth the best in you. Audrey Tautou was a pleausure to watch as usual. She is just such a wonderful actress.

A nice setting on the Cote d'Azur, a delicious Audrey Tautou, a shy but sufficiently intriguing Gad Elmaleh and a good chemistry between them would be enough to make a comedy entertaining. And "Priceless" is indeed a pleasant French romance-comedy, let's add also some playful attitude, which remains playful till the end. The movie avoids too sappy scenes, and keeps up an enjoyable cheeky tone, with a consciousness of the nature of these relationships between wealthy men/women and their escorts, but wise enough to move the camera away when curtains are drawn or lights are turned off, simply because the mood of the picture has to remain lively, not serious, not even passionate. The ending is predictable, but it could not be otherwise, and you'll like also for its gentle and delicate progressing to that necessarily predictable finale. And if you look at dresses, well, you will fall in love with Audrey Tautou's splendid evening dresses...

This 2006 French gem from director Pierre Salvadori is a funny romantic film.Audrey Tautou lights up the screen in a way few present day actressess can.Salvadori(who also co-wrote the screenplay along with Benoit Graffin)provides the film with a heady mix of romance and comedy. On the French Riviera during the summer,gold-digging escort Irene(Audrey Tautou)is staying at a top class hotel with her elderly squeeze of the moment Jacques(a scene stealing Vernon Dobtcheff). One night in the bar she mistakes hapless barman Jean(Gad Elmaleh)for a rich playboy,(he plays along with that assumption)and they spend the night together, only for her to discover to her great cost the truth. After Jacques ditches her,Irene takes up with Jean(who she takes for every penny to continue living a rich lifestyle). The two later part company but keep getting drawn back together and each time they realise that they could just be made for each other.Audrey is simply enchanting as Irene and Elmaleh is a talent to keep an eye out for in the future and in his hands Jean is no goof but a lovable guy with a big heart.Very funny and romantic,Priceless shines bright and you will have a smile on your face long after it's over.

PRICELESS ( Hors de Prix) manages to puff along on its rather slim story line and keep the audience interested primarily due to the presence of Audrey Tautou. Though the script by Benoît Graffin and Pierre Salvador is loaded with good lines and despite the fact that director Pierre Salvadori manages to keep the appearance of the film full of glossy fun, the story thins after the first hour and pleads for some tighter editing. The location is the French Riviera and the action takes place in the elegant Biarritz Hotel where we discover Irène (Audrey Tautou) as a gold digger whose career focus is finding a man of wealth who can support her expensive tastes. Tautou has never looked more glamorous than she does here and we can understand why the sugar daddies of the world vie for her attention. While preparing for her birthday celebration, Irène takes too long dressing and her current paramour falls asleep. Not wanting to be alone on her special day she goes in all her resplendent glory to the hotel bar. There she meets Jean (Gad Elmaleh) who happens to be the bartender and hotel employee but who Irène mistakes for a man of wealth. Their mutual attraction, despite the mismatch of perceptions, results in a wild night of love - Jean being careful not to allow Irène to know of his true status as a poor worker. A year passes and the two meet again under similar circumstances and as the true identities are unveiled Irène teaches Jean how to be a gigolo, only to have the tables turn in a predictable way. This is a bit of French fluff and goes on far too long, but there is Tautou on the screen, beautiful and buoyant and irresistible - and that makes up for a lot. In French with English subtitles.
