Memorable, crazy movie
This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.
View MoreThe film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
View MoreThe story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
View MoreIt felt the film was moving in circles and not really going anymore. The dialogue about Norman's mother became annoyingly repetitive and the character's actions became questionable. This was boring. Nothing about this yawner is credible.
View MoreI honestly wasn't expecting to like this movie, I thought it was gonna be an OK sequel to a great classic, but it turned out to be as good, if not better, than the original film.I will say that a sequel to Psycho its not something I would say its necessary, but god damn this was a great movie. When I do this kind of Halloween horror reviews I usually end up watching a few great movies that will stick with me, this year its no exception, with The Birds, Psycho II and Exorcist II this year turned out to be anything but disappointing.I am still baffled at how someone managed to make a sequel this good to a movie that its considered to be among the greatest of all time, this should be the kind of sequel you watch once and dislike but never think too much about, this should be an inferior product made to cash-in on a well known title. Instead, Psycho II shows us the story of a more sympathetic Norman Bates, struggling to return to his old home without being bothered by the people who cant forgive him, we know he's guilty of all those murders but we also know that his mental health isn't exactly the best, abused all throughout his life Norman is not like any other normal person, not even if he tries to be. This struggle is perhaps the most tragic part of the film. While the direction isn't as apparent as Hitchcock's, this is still a very well made film, it only makes reference to Hitchcock's style once or twice, most of the time it feels quite different, as it should be.A really engaging story with likable characters and a fantastic ending, this is a movie I wish I would have seen earlier.
View MoreAfter twenty-two years of psychiatric care, Norman Bates attempts to return to a life of solitude, but the specters of his crimes - and his mother - continue to haunt him. Psycho II pays homage to the original 1960 classic but also as a movie itself and bringing back 2 of the original cast members from the first film is more than welcome yes it did take 22 years to be made but it makes sense it's also a great psychological thriller and the film does have some good performances and it's way better than most horror films of this decade. Anthony Perkins owns the role and he is easily the best thing of those movies the film has some great scenes like the blood coming out of the toilet and the floor, the classic scene from the first film including the music but also Norman starting to get insane once more now the ending is kinda the low point on the film with those weird stabbing parts and those 2 major deaths but then again it's a thriller stupid stuff must happen. In the end Psycho 2 is much much better than most movies that come today but also as good as the Original with some new and old problems that the first film suffered from for example the pacing.
View MoreMost of the time sequels are just bad ideas. Writing a sequel to Hitchcock's masterpiece Psycho must not have been an easy thing to do. But it did work out great. The sequel has the same plots and twists, with the necessary suspense and great sound effects. Anthony Perkins is still the perfect actor to impersonate the psychotic Norman Bates. You would kind of feel sorry for him in this movie. But then again you can see there is a thin line between normal life and insanity. He plays that part beautifully. Okay nothing will ever equal the original Psycho because that was for that time an absolute hit but nevertheless Psycho II is certainly worth a watch.
