Sorry, this movie sucks

The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

Actress is magnificent and exudes a hypnotic screen presence in this affecting drama.

this film is a very good nazi-zombie sub-genre film. it has suspense and violence with an aquatic twist in it. the film is unique because of it's aquatic twist. it has one scene where a character falls on sea urchins that seem to have come out of nowhere and the zombies always being shown emerging from the water. the film relies slightly on stock footage used and repeated but makes up for this with its interesting underwater sequences and bizarre plot. it revolves around a tour group getting stuck on an island where an old ss general warns them. through the film, their is a subplot of the main character ( Peter Cushing) having fear and hatred for what he has done int he past when he was a general and in the film tries to confront his grotesque experiments.

Directed by Ken Wiederhorn (who directed Meatballs II and Return Of The Living Dead II!) the film relates how a group of people are stranded on an island that gets invaded by dead Nazi super soldiers who have come from a lost ship pulled from the bottom of the sea by.....am not sure what. It sounds good but it isn't exciting. Going for mood rather than tension it should have been more full blooded. The dead Nazis have a habit of emerging out of water in no logical way and doing their worse, which involves little gore if any. The group of people act in the usual stupid way that people do in films like this.The acting is mostly bland apart from genre stalwarts John Carradine as the old salty captain and Peter Cushing as a German officer connected with the super soldiers. Mr Cushing is not his usual elegantly dressed self and has a slightly disfigured face for some unexplained reason but he is the best player in the film.The old hotel location is atmospheric and there are some eerie moments like the first appearance of the soldiers but overall it is ho-hum. Being a gentleman I hesitate to say that Brooke Adams looks very picturesque in a yellow bikini....but she does.

I don't want to say that I hate this movie because I didn't. I didn't like it either though. It was so middle of the road in all ways possible that you don't dislike, but you don't particularly enjoy it either.The zombies, to use the term loosely, are people in SS uniforms that walk in and out of the water to somber music. The violence is not existent in the context of zombie films. The special effects are less than special. I understand that this is low-budget and I have much admiration for low-budget films but this is just such a run-of-the-mill zombie film that I really can't recommend it.The screenplay leaves a lot to be desired as does the direction. However this is not a bad film. Watch if you must but I wouldn't waste much time seeking it out.

Shock waves was one of those movies in the mid eighties I picked up and just said wow, it so creepy. Later on I managed to find it on vipco. Although the vipco is a good print I wanted some more from DVD. So finally i got a copy of blue underground.Shock Waves. It stars Peter Cushing and John Carradine with the extremely yummy Brooke Adams from The Dead Zone.Plot. A motor boat cruiser is taking some holiday makers round the islands. In a similar way to the later filmed zombie flesh eaters. There is an underwater event and a ghost ship rises from the depths of the ocean. It hits their boat and they have to go ashore. Later they find that the ghost ship was inhabited by .... Nazi zombies... who come ashore for blood bones and sinews...Analysis. With a plot like the above this movie could have gone anywhere but being the classic movie it is. The director talks about wanting to put some comedy elements in it but the producer stopped him. Well done to the producer as this is a timeless classic. The make up is great with the zombies looking like true Aryans. Their bleach blond hair gives them a real sense of being left overs from the master race. The music sets the scene so well, and is probably the best thing that this movie has going for it. It is creepy and brooding. All the while it gives the impression of menace. The four main actors are superb. Luke Haplin who was the boy from Flipper shows that he has what it takes to be a major mainstream actor. Pity no one else thought this or he might have been the big star he deserved to be. Brooke Adams has long been a fave of mine from her role in David Cronenberg's Dead Zone. In this movie she shines so much. Another actress that I Carnot believe did not make the big time. John Carradine is a true gent and plays his cantankerous captain with a zeal that some of todays hero's should look at and emulate. Finally Peter Cushing in an American movie, who would have thought it possible. He is as always the elder statesman of horror and is brilliant. Summing up. This is one of my fave movies as it is scary and dark. It has zombies in it as well. Only a few people have managed both. 10/10The disc contains some extras. A commentary track which is pretty good but really needs someone to moderate it. I seem to like the movie more than they do and they made it. Also the is a short interview with Luke in it which is interesting. Then there are some trailers.
