Running for Grace Trailers

An orphan boy of mixed race finds family with the newly arrived white village doctor in Hawaii. The boy can run like the wind, and begins bringing Doc's medicine to coffee pickers throughout the mountainous region. On an errand, the medicine runner meets the daughter of the plantation owner and a forbidden, young love blossoms like the white "Kona Snow" of the surrounding coffee trees.

Bad Acting and worse Bad Screenplay

It’s an especially fun movie from a director and cast who are clearly having a good time allowing themselves to let loose.

The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

Running for Grace beautifully blends the scenic Big Island with a story that captures the hearts of its viewers. David Cunningham did a very good job directing the film by keeping it on the Big Island and by casting actors that are passionate about the story and the history of the early residents during that time. This movie is a must-see for the whole family!

It's a classic story of two young lovers separated behind high, thick walls of social class and racial prejudice. Think of it as Romeo and Juliet in a lush tropical setting.Jim Caveziel is Reyes, a villain you love to hate. He couldn't be further removed from his raw portrayal as Jesus in "The Passion of the Christ." All of the actors turned in seamless performances. Ryan Potter shows star quality as Jo, the lead character. Cole Takiue plays Jo as a child, capturing the audience in this, his first acting job.Matt Dillon's performance as Doc wins you over. I liked him before in his Oscar-nominated role in "Crash." With this film he adds even more luster to his career.David Cunningham's skill in pulling all of this together was amazing. He pulls back the curtain on some cruel parts of this Hawaiian island's history. His scenes will also sweep you into the incredible beauty of the Big Island and its people. I can always tell when a movie is very good. If I have a warm, fuzzy feeling the next day, I will never forget that film. Today, with an amazing array of outlets gushing out movies for the big screen, TV, and streaming online, so many are instantly forgotten. Not this one. I'm basking in the satisfaction of a heartfelt story, presented with excellence.

I enjoyed Running for Grace a second time in theater - it's perfect for the whole family. I discovered a lot about Hawaii and it's landscapes and history through the film too. What beautiful shots and powerful themes of love, loss and adoption! It was fun seeing big actors like Matt Dillon and Jim Caveziel across from first timers like little Cole (ridiculously cute) and others.

For days afterwards I reflected on how much I enjoyed watching this film. The story took me for a ride, the real-ness of it all is easy to identify with, and the morals and message are readily applicable in today's world. If more people learned from the role models of this film, the world would be a better place.
