Surprisingly incoherent and boring
Sadly Over-hyped
disgusting, overrated, pointless
While it is a pity that the story wasn't told with more visual finesse, this is trivial compared to our real-world problems. It takes a good movie to put that into perspective.
View MoreI actually didn't hate Scream 3, which appears to be a controversial opinion among fans of the franchise. Hey, I'd even go as far as saying it's GOOD. As a big fan of Neve Campbell, I do absolutely adore Sidney, but it was refreshing having the movie with a split focus, seeing in more detail the adventures of Dewey and Gale. I also loved to hate the new characters - Parker Posey as Jennifer was absolutely hilarious and I thought the inclusion of the Stab 3 cast was a genius move. Even the ending wasn't that bad, and while the reveal of the killer felt a bit weak due to his Roman's irelevance as a character, if you will yourself to believe it, plotholes in the first movie can be explained away by this big reveal. Personally, I'm not sure how you could dislike this movie. It's still funny, despite Williamson's lack of input on the screenplay, and it's different - something the franchise is known for that I think it delivered on again. If it was the same as the first two it'd have little impact, and this shake-up of the formula was well done. While maybe it's not as solid a film as the two before it (the deaths certainly aren't as memorable), as a Scream nerd it was still totally enjoyable, and provided a good end to the 'trilogy'.
View MoreAfter the success of Scream 2, becoming second as the biggest budget slasher film of all time, there was no doubt Scream 3 would happen and three years later, two here in Ireland, it did and was it a big success..no. Writer of the first two films, Kevin Williamson was unable to return due to other works and was replaced with a pretty lousy writer, Ehren Kruger, or something. There were things I liked about Scream 3 and some things I did not like, the acting in the film is honestly not the best but Neve Campbell does do her best and succeeds in it, all of the other actors and actresses are very meh, even Cox and Arquette were bland enough in this. The characters in the film were also pretty blunt being very paper thin, Parker Posey also appears in this film as one of the most annoying characters of all time, I was literally just waiting for her throat to be slashed in a very happy way..sorry, I sound so messed up. Overall, Scream 3, I personally did enjoy but it was no wear near as good as the first two.
View MoreThe main reason I thought Scream was so good was the way it played with fans' expectations. It said 'Here's what usually happens in the genre, and here's what we're going to do'. Sometimes that was to totally subvert a genre convention and sometimes it was to follow one, having first pointing out that it was one. I thought it added a lot of humour to the film, as well as being very clever. With Scream 2 we got more subversion and more of a kind of knowing wink, which was delicious. With the third, imaginatively titled Scream 3, we got something that appears to going somewhere new and interesting, but soon became a little run-of-the-mill and very predictable. In short, it turned into the very kind of stuff that the original and the follow-up were lampooning. OK, there are moments in this which are worth a giggle, but I wasn't rubbing my hands together with delight at how clever it was, as I had done with the first two. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that, as the movie progresses, it gets sillier and more contrived. It pains me to say it, having loved the first two, but, the trilogy ends, not on a high, how it should have, but rather fizzles out.
View MoreThis time they waited 3 years to make part 3 and it shows, for me better then part 2, more realistic, great opening and believable.Again, all thespians are back and they added some famous names from the genre to it like Lance Henriksen and Carrie Fisher. A fine way to return to the famous city where the murders happened by visiting the set of the Stab flicks based on the original murders. The lack of suspense in part 2 is back and the red stuff is more available. The franchise was back with a good entry. Horror was now back in full bloom and luckily Wes Craven stayed for directing this franchise which resulted in it's fame.Gore 1/5 Nudity 0/5 Effects 3/5 Story 3/5 Comedy 0/5
