Waste of time

Edwin

The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.

Story: It's very simple but honestly that is fine.

Phillipa

Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.

First-class actors, emotional performances, storytelling as real life, the subject being the mistakes we commit and that we have no courage to assume, recognize, correct. Impeccable direction, effective filming, everything is narrated with great grace, in short, a film jewel, but attention is a very sad story.

this is hands down the worst film I've watched in the last two years. 50 minutes past before the girl even met her biological mother. another hour passed before you could find out what happen. how can a fully black girl have a white mother. if the girl is meant to be mixed race then the casting people must be clueless. on top of this film doesn't even have a plot. do the filmmakers think that depicting someone crying a lot and showing the British version of depression is a story line? or that they are depicting something that your average person doesn't already understand. this film has no right to be over 2 hours and certainly no business having an 8 star rating. don't waste your time if u have anything worth doing with your day.

We are expected to believe the totally unbuyable plot point in which Brenda's character cannot remember being with a black man and giving birth to a black baby. This is absolutely ridiculous and should have been rewritten. What was the brilliant Mike Leigh thinking?Nick

First time Iheard of this movie was for the British Screen Festival that took place in Nîmes (France). We also had the chance and even the pleasure to meet Timothy Spall who plays Maurice, Cynthia's brother in "Secrets and Lies". I must say this movie is a bit slow-moving at the beginning but after Cynthia and Hortense meet, the movie speeds up a little bit. The actors performances are great considering the fact that they had no script to rely on but I wouldn't say this movie is Oscar-Worthy. The movie is catchy though, and if you are into secrets and kinda backstabbing movies you'll probably like it but if you're into DC COMICS or MARVEL or any kind of action movie, this is not the movie you'll like. You'll get really bored really quickly. To finish with, the movie is great and Timothy Spall was just adorable, sweet and interacted a lot with us. It was a really cool and interesting experience to do.
