Strong and Moving!
It's hard to see any effort in the film. There's no comedy to speak of, no real drama and, worst of all.
View MoreI think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
View MoreOne of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.
View MoreThis is a full blown Roland Emmerich film. Technically great (as all Emmerich's films). But also VERY respectful to those of us who suffered - and still suffers - oppression due to our sexuality. It is certainly an utterly historically inaccurate film. Things happen - that could not - and did not happen. But hey: Do you remember the small child with cancer - saved in the last minute in 'The Day after Tomorrow'? And the American president - that has to lead the attach on the spaceship in 'Independence Day'? Far over the top! But so much over the top that it is obviously just the director playing with all of us. And I love it.The film is loaded with quite beautiful scenes with characters you either hate or love. I understand their feelings and actions. For a gay man like me, it is sometimes very emotional, not at least due to some great acting. Yes: these people actually do exist in the real world! So watch this film as an Emmerich experience. It does not show how it was - exactly. It may not be adored by the 'political correct' gay community, this film is far too mainstream in it's access to historical accuracy. But it is a great and very entertaining and beautiful movie. Far, far too underrated!
View MoreA part of history that has rarely been told until now. My interest was piqued after the ABC miniseries Rise Up. So I figured I would wade into the Stonewall waters. What I experienced was surprisingly good. Some of the characters are compilations of actual persons. Good story and actors. Enjoyable and enlightening film on the whole.
View MoreSome material may sound better on paper than it actual translates on screen. And while this will not be up every-ones ally (which you can tell by the rating and the discrepancies in high and low ones), this did happen to a degree and was worth telling. So while you may not belong to a community that is affected by this, it's a universal theme nonetheless at the end.I haven't checked facts or read upon the real events, so I wouldn't be influenced going into this. But that also means, I can't confirm to what degree this got it right (something quite a lot of people seem to criticize). From a drama point of view it does kind of work though and while it doesn't seem perfect, it is decent
View MoreThis is one of the greatest gay movies ever made and of course I just loved it, what a beautiful film. The acting is first rate along with everything else about this truly wonderful movie. The main character of Danny played by English actor Jeremy Irvine is just perfect and he's of course absolutely gorgeous, what a fantastic talent he is, such an excellent actor. I'm going to watch all of his films, I loved War Horse. Kudos to everyone involved in the making of this very very important film. The only complaint that I have is that it's filmed in Montreal which looks nothing like NYC.
