Waste of time

A film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.

Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.

Even in the world without security cameras, and considering general pleasant appearance of Ted Bundy, it is still awkward he could carry on for such a long time and in so many places: his approaches were similar, his car distinctive, he did not use gloves... As for the movie, it is probably worth asking - is it necessary to depict cruel real persons, as it causes so much pain, shame, anger, etc? Besides, there are definitely some for whom he is/was a hero... Events depicted are apparently realistic (sometimes documentary frames are used), but the plot is somehow arid and hectic, it is more chronological narration rather than art movie. Execution scene is protracted, and as the solution is known beforehand, the creators added a "twisted" ending... Trivial, however.Michael Reilly Burke as Ted Bundy is, of course, is strong, there are only a few scenes without his presence, but the other characters are not so catchy. Inclusion of class A stars could have probably added different nuances and more fame. For me, Ted Bundy is just an above-average historical path through the felonies of a pervert.

This movie was so unrealistic and non-factual that I can't believe I finished it. The locations were all shot in CA (a place that has nothing to do with Bundy). All the details throughout the movie were either intentionally or mistakenly distorted. The filmmakers had several goofs. And, very significant parts of the Bundy story were completely left out. They didn't include the reports to investigators from his girlfriend or anything about the four state (Washington, Oregon, Utah, Colorado) investigation and the difficulty in finding evidence on him. There is so much more to the Ted Bundy story. So much they could have done with the locations and forensic investigations. The fact that he was the first person in history to be called a "serial killer" should have given them more incentive to really tell the whole story. They even left out the fact that he made all the big confessions (he confessed to 30 murders) minutes prior to his execution. The whole execution scene was just a joke. This movie was just cheap! What a huge disappointment. Not worth the time at all. Instead, just read the story.

This is a very disturbing film. The rage that was in Ted Bundy (Michael Reilly Burke) was not easy to watch. I don't think they could have found anyone better than Burke to do the character. Smooth and easy to the ladies until he got them where he wanted and then he was maniacal in his treatment. He had a fetish for necrophilia, as he wanted his women almost dead as he raped them. His smooth manner even enabled him to keep the guards off guard after he was arrested facilitating an escape. He managed to escape twice before he had his date with Old Sparky. Even a plea to help solve all the murders he committed, would not save him.He was probably the worst serial killer in history. He was certainly a disgusting man.

What was Matthew Bright thinking when he made this film? Why did he want to make it? Ted Bundy is one of the most notorious serial killers in the history of True Crime and thus it may have been at least a little interesting to see a movie that included the psychology of this killer and his childhood and even the trial (both of which are intriguing and none were in the film). Normally, I don't like to watch movies about real killers because they run the risk of glamourizing things or appear pretentious and campy. Moreover, on the poster there's a cheap tagline that states something like 'the real Hannibal Lector'. Clearly this was the intent of drawing a crowd. I would much rather watch documentaries or read articles (in any case, this is something I make myself do before watching the movie). Bright's 'Ted Bundy' is halfbaked. It's not entirely true to the facts. Much of it pretty much looks like a series of rape and murder scenes (kind of like the ones you'd see in a cheap slasher flick) patched together while the rest is plain boring. His girlfriend Lee is extremely irritating and if she really was like that, I wonder why he hasn't killed her. 'Ted Bundy' also comes across as misogynistic. All the women in this movie are portrayed as stupid. The last scene, with the children, was supposed to evoke horror but I found this desperate attempt to be hilarious. Michael Reilly Burke isn't a bad actor but he's miscast. Overall, Bright's 'Ted Bundy' is a poorly told and inaccurate story of a cold-blooded killer and a pretentious movie.
