If you like to be scared, if you like to laugh, and if you like to learn a thing or two at the movies, this absolutely cannot be missed.
View MoreThe movie is made so realistic it has a lot of that WoW feeling at the right moments and never tooo over the top. the suspense is done so well and the emotion is felt. Very well put together with the music and all.
View MoreGreat example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.
View MoreI watched this, meaning I yielded to the many promos on the Spanish-language network UniMás. But I think the commercials had shown all of the good parts, because what I was watching was an unpleasant experience. Now, as a "Mystery Science Theater 3000" fan, I rate "Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning" a star higher than most films that were on that show (or on "RiffTrax") because there was some professionalism in the making of the film (despite the fact it's a straight-to-DVD movie). As a kid, I grew up w/ the original TV series on my television although chances are my parents were watching, so I wasn't really a fan. & I had no interest in watching the cinematic remake starring Johnny Knoxville, Sean William Scott, & Jessica Simpson. But this prequel just was too juvenile for my taste. None of the lead actors were recognizable, not even April Scott as Daisy Duke. How ruined was her film career after that? Not even appearances in commercials? I did notice the guy from "Rocketman," the villain from "Happy Gilmore," & Willie Nelson. I assume getting high (or drunk) was no offense during filming; I had to wonder who WASN'T under the influence among the cast & crew. I would guess the actresses; beer or pot might contain a few calories or gluten that would damage their nubile figures & get cut from the movie, even the elderly-by-this-film's-standards Sherilyn Finn. Also, this movie does fit the standards of watching it on TV in Spanish; whatever resembled a plot was a mere excuse for car chases. So in conclusion, "Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning" is trashy for an un-devoted fan like me. For the true Duke fans, this is a real abomination & must be avoided entirely.
View MoreMy wife is a huge Dukes of Hazzard fan, and I enjoyed it as a kid as well. When I found out they made this 'sequel' to the movie, I really was looking forward to watching it. We sat down and watched it last night. Although I found the first 1/3 engrossing, the second third of the movie went downhill, and the final 1/3 was just plain boring. I got out a book and ended up reading and not paying very much attention towards the end. Yes, I thought it was that bad. I figured that maybe it had a fantastic ending or something that might have made up for how far downhill it slid, but my wife says no. The main reasons I have for not liking this thing at all are 1) predictability - just about everything in this movie goes by the book, and is terribly formulaic 2) the acting - over the top, not very believable 3) the writing, and some of the lines are particularly unbelievable and off putting. They could have made a great movie out of this if they had simply paid the writers for Frasier (or some equally talented folks) to come up with a witty take on the whole concept. One thing that really made me mad was the fact that my favorite character from the series was the most annoying in this - Cooter. I just found myself hating this clueless buffoon, yet also feeling sorry for him because he was in this movie. Please skip this one - you've been warned.
View Morethe movie had some funny parts, but it got away from the original TVseries. it seemed as if they thought the only way they could make money off this movie was to make it a porno instead of coming up with a keen way to show how "the beginning" really happened. the only actually plot was busting hog of still selling shine and it wasn't all that interesting.what also annoyed me was how obvious it was that the movie was filmed outside of LA. there were multiple shots where the Californian coastal range mountains were in the background and it was quite obvious it wasn't filmed in the deep south. in conclusion if you want a couple laughs and you are bored then rent this movie, but overall it isn't that great
View MoreThis one is better then the one that played at the movie if you liked the TV show you will like this movie. Its got every thing the show had and a little more. the movie was funny and Willie nelson does a good job once again. Cant wait for it to come to DVD so i can add to my collection of dukes. And daisy's hot as ever course jessica simpson is pretty out but this chick fit the part. The boys playing bo and Luke did a good job. Even thou in the TV show bo was not that dumb but it made the show funny so i suggest to sit back if you haven't seen it yet and grab some beers and order a pizza cause this movie is worth the watch . I hope there will be a part 3 cause the dukes live on.
