Ok... Let's be honest. It cannot be the best movie but is quite enjoyable. The movie has the potential to develop a great plot for future movies

It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.

A claustrophobic, old-school thriller, making very good use of a (mostly) single location. Great ensemble acting and a nice twist ending which rewards viewing all the way through. As someone who has only visited Martha's Vineyard in the summer and heard tales of the "off-season population", I was very curious to watch this film. It captured the atmosphere and sense of place very well and made me want to go back again, despite making me way more wary of those "off-seasoners"! Recommended.

Not your typical thriller/horror film because these friends, and this story, are written to showcase the relationships between them as people. It's cool to see such fleshed out characters who have history with each other in this genre. It's a much more involving story than a simple horror movie. The editing, score, camera work, lighting and location all carry through nicely, working to amp up the tension and suspense and help add dimension. It's not a slash and gore fest. It's a well told story of 4 friends spending a New Year's together in a remote area and it step-by-step going wrong. A well done indie that is part psychological thriller, part ensemble drama, part character study and part scary movie. Well worth the watch.

I was always going to watch this movie because I spent a hell of a lot of time on Martha's Vineyard, the main location, and if you're not hobnobbing with the Edgartown Yacht club Set or hanging out with the POTUS at this private estate south of the airport, then lets face it, its a pretty damn creepy place and in real life I've experienced a lot of creepiness up there. We used to have a house next to a 200 year old cemetery and the housekeeper next door could be seen wandering the graves at night talking to people...especially around the graves of little kids...so was glad to see The Eve deliver not just a blood fest but a creepy and crafted thriller with a lot of suspense that is adult and NOT just teens so it tackles some real emotion and works its way into your head and delivers! Bravo!

Four people (college pals Scott, Jenn, and Harry plus Harry's new girlfriend Lacey) head to Scott's beach house on Martha's Vineyard to reconnect but things start to go wrong pretty much from the outset - for the characters AND the viewer. As another reviewer say, nothing works here. The killer is so obvious that I assumed they would be a red herring but no: the person who acts like the looney killer is just that. The "reconnecting" part of the plot doesn't work because it's made clear that the school friends have interacted recently, and to make matters worse, they don't seem to like each other all that much anyway. Nobody acts like a real person would, either; they simply lope along from scene to scene because the script says they should.I gave The Eve two stars instead of one for two reasons. First, I didn't actively hate it - I just found it boring and bad, not excruciating. For the life of me, I can't recall what the other reason was. Yes, I finished watching the movie not ten minutes ago and can't remember the other redeeming quality. That sums up The Eve quite well, actually.
