This is How Movies Should Be Made

Good story, Not enough for a whole film

n my opinion it was a great movie with some interesting elements, even though having some plot holes and the ending probably was just too messy and crammed together, but still fun to watch and not your casual movie that is similar to all other ones.

It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.

If your a fan of down right creepy, psychological thrillers, than this is a straight up mind bender. John Cusack is a strong lead in this film, not a great stand-out performance but nonetheless not bad either. Jennifer Carpenter is truly a delight as his partner. The scene stealer for me is the methodical and unnerving way Dallas Roberts comes across as the killer in this film. Inspired by true events is a tagline for this film and although research was done by this critic no information was found. However, everyday we see the truths behind sex-trafficking and developments of missing girls. So this story hits the truth nail on the head. You are literally left scratching your head at the end of this thriller. I give it a strong 7 leaning towards 8.

John Cusack and Mae Whitman turn in some good performances, and the Story's Not Bad up until the last 10 minutes or so...Ending IS a Surprise, but Very Unsatisfying...

WARNING - SPOILER AHEAD!!!Okay, so this is my first ever summary of a movie. I've seen it recently on Amazon Prime and it wasn't that bad.The film is very well made in terms of acting and cinematography. Certainly not an Acedmy Award Winner, but very solid. The villain is portrayed by Dallas Roberts and i believe him every second of this movie. John Cusack is awesome as always, although his last big hit was a few years ago. The story is intriguing and kept me at the edge of my seat. What bothered me most was the ending - i really liked it, since John Cusack died and was betrayed by his partner Kelsey. But i just knew that Carl had an accomplice besides the big black guy the minute they drove to his home. So for me, Kelsey being Carls girlfriend or wife or whatsoever was no surprise at all.Abby finding out about Kelsey being a bad guy was also unnecessary in my opinion. The end would have even been better, if she hadn't find out.So in the end, the movie "The Factory" is a very solid 6/10.

Why You Might Like It: If you enjoy serial killer movies and thrillers, then you will want to see this film. The cast and acting are pretty good and don't take anything away from the movie. In my opinion, the plot is strong and that is what really makes the film enjoyable. The movie has a great pace and flow and you won't find yourself slipping into boredom. Why You Might Not Like It: While the cast is notable with Cusack and Carpenter, it also doesn't scream star power. The story is pretty well done, but I am sure some viewers could some flaws if they focused on it. There are better serial killer movies out there, but this one does manage to be entertaining.Acting/Casting: 6* Directing/Cinematography/Technical: 6.5*Plot/Characters: 7* Entertainment Value: 6.5* Total - 6+6.5+7+6.5 = 26/4 = 6.5* - Well worth a rental
