Just so...so bad
n my opinion it was a great movie with some interesting elements, even though having some plot holes and the ending probably was just too messy and crammed together, but still fun to watch and not your casual movie that is similar to all other ones.
View MoreWhile it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.
View MoreMostly, the movie is committed to the value of a good time.
View MoreI know...I know. Compared to the original, this one is far less dark, the music isn't as good, and it has a less epic scope but.... I can't help it. I like this movie. If you couldn't guess from the title, this is definitely one of my guilty pleasure movies. I can't defend it from a technical aspect, but I actually really do enjoy this movie. The main reason I suppose is I got really mad in the first movie seeing as how the moral was 'look at the beauty inside' and then Esmeralda marries the cute guy. (Shrug) i don't know, that just always really bothered me. I actually did want Quasimodo to get a romantic interest, and I do actually like Madelin's character as well as Jennifer Love Hewitt voicing her. The villain was cheesy, the stakes weren't as high, but, I liked the romantic character development. I wasn't too huge of a fan of the child character Zephyr, but, then again I am sure not too many people were. The animation is nothing to write home about and like I said everything technical about it is not very good. But...it still left me with a happy feeling and I enjoyed it and have watched it multiple times. I can understand people who don't like it solely based on how different the tone is from the first, but you gotta give em credit, they got back pretty much all the voice actors. That's gotta count for something. Still though, I know a lot of people didn't..but I really liked it. Chalk it up to a guilty pleasure.
View MoreMy daughter and I watched this film for the first time today and it flew to the top of my Disney Favorites List. I usually steer clear of Disney sequels because that is dangerous, but this one was truly great. It is the first film I've seen at a children's level that is a believable love story of ordinary people. It is an articulate depiction of second chances, forgiveness, true beauty, courage, and love! It doesn't use the dashing prince 7ft tall with arrogant mannerisms or a girl with unrealistic proportions and a faultless track record "tra-la-laing" through the forest and talking in a soft voice to display her unmatchable grace and etiquette- the main girl is not royalty at all.The plot could've been developed a little more, and there could have been a few more songs to keep it running in your head after the credits roll, but this was far from a forgettable film. We will certainly be buying this one, and now I am curious of the other Disney sequels- although I certainly won't set the bar at the level of this one bc it was magnificent!
View MoreI am still trying to hold my dinner down in fear that i am going to throw up all over the computer. I started to watch the opening and the first thing you see is the HORRIBLE i mean HORRIBLE animation. I mean a blind handless person could draw better then this! I LOVED the FIRST movie, it was one of the darkest and realistic (for Disney) movies and I loved the music as well (but how it got the rating G, I will never know and don't want to know what hell they gave for it) The animation was horrible and I could feel tears in my eyes just watching this. Also there is happy IloveTheWorld music going on not the dark dramatic choir and bells ringing like in the first. Oh no it gets much worse. You see our Hunchback buddie leaping house to house hanging up flowers and everyone is trying to set up a festival (and are failing horribly). Clopin (the singing gypsies)is standing on a platform with a flower arch over his head and thats pretty much the decoration. and they wont stop stuffing flowers into the arch, its pretty much in every other shot. And they are getting ready for their FAVORITE festival!! (what happened to the feast of fools?)I cannot even hear what they are saying with the bad sound quality. Its a festive for love (oofff cooouuurrrssee) And My favorite character Clopin is dancing around with Quasimodo (Quasi for short) like there about to get married. And Quasi is handing out flowers and no one seems to care about the fact that he is not normal. While they are singing there horribly written song about love (Shivers) You see Phoebus on his horse. And Oh my F*** god its the worse animation I've seen in 15 Years. And somehow Esperelda has grown like ten feet and is taller then him while he is sitting up on a horse and kisses him in horrible animation. For the rest of this song they just take things from the first movie and slap it in. Clopin playing with his puppets and such and everyone is happy and smiling even though half of Paris just burned down with all of there people!! YAY HALF OF THE CITY IS GONE!!! Then those sidekick statues are fighting and its pretty stupid. "To bad there's not enough of me to go around" "Good thing" "Hey was that a shot?" WTF?! The thing that made me turn this off was Phoebus saying "I hope you ring the bell loud enough because ima gonna make Esmeralda scream She loves me and make her scream my name!!" DEAR GOD THIS IS A KIDS MOVIE!!!This movie cannot be a Disney movie. Its either the dirty sex jokes they somehow failed to see or the bad animation and the characters are STILL wearing the same clothes. The only thing I liked was the cute little son of Phoebes and Esmeralda, he was pretty cute.
View MoreOh. My. Gosh. Words can't explain what a monstrosity this sequel is. Before I even start, let me just say that I bought a "used" copy of this movie on VHS a month after the original release date at Blockbuster for a measly $5. I put "used" in quotation marks because this copy had obviously never even been touched. It is obvious who the enemy is at first sight because of his slicked-back black hair and evil eyes. The whole deal with Esmeralda and Phoebus having a kid -- wha...?? Quasimodo's new girlfriend is ugly and annoying. The new songs are intolerable; after hearing them, I was almost tempted to stick my fingers down my own throat. Oh, and the "I love _______" bit at the end was downright repulsive, almost as bad as the animation. Now, not all of Disney's direct-to-video sequels are bad. Mulan 2 and Lilo and Stitch 2 were definitely watchable, An Extremely Goofy Movie was entertaining (still not as good as the original, though), and Toy Story 2 was awesome. Hunchback of Notre Dame 2 is worse than Cinderella 2 and Belle's Enchanted World. Yes, it's that bad. Please don't subject yourself or your children to this garbage. I think I just heard Walt Disney turn over in his grave. Fans of the original such as myself are sure to be disappointed. Fans of the original book by Victor Hugo will probably vomit uncontrollably, as this movie strays light-years further from the book than the original movie. I say we all pretend this movie never existed and that all copies are burned. I only gave it one star because I was unable to give it a negative score.
