Good story, Not enough for a whole film

In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.

no fun no humor even the action was terrible.released in 2005 the myth is a Chinese film starting Jackie Chan & malika shirawat & other actors.the story is weak plus too much of a twist in the end just to reveal that its all a bull crap.a total time wasting movie..i like Jackie Chan but this time he disappoints.old & new style mixed it looks like a C grade movie..don't even watch this for free please..its worst movie ever.my rating is 2/10//do not watch & waste your time or money

Once you understand the story is completely nonsense and that Jackie Chan is 51 years old you can have fun with this film. The action is still impressive, even if less than in the average Jackie Chan movies, the acting is almost ludicrous and the women are gorgeous as usual. But don't let the fact that Mallika Sherawat plays (and dances and fights) in this production be the only reason you go to see it :)Bottom line: Jackie Chan should stick to more simple scripts and add his immense sense of fun to films rather than try big productions that fall short.Watch it only if you are a Jackie fan or you really don't have anything else to do.

The Myth is definitely some of the best stuff to come from JC Films in a while (well at least 2 years.) As Jackie takes a step into uncharted genre just like New Police Story, this is his 2nd step (of a so-far 3step) in created new borders for his films. And it's quite good at that.As usual, there is cheese. Not all that bad however, but It is still in there to attract fans of his old movies. But the action is rather good for JC in his day and age, just as in New Police Story. Jackie gives a brilliant performance as a Qin Dynasty General, he seems to slip into that character perfectly. The soundtrack is good, story average and fantastic special effect (minus 1 waterfall scene). If you like good action, Dynasty style films, films of fantasy or the 'common guy with an extraordinary story' style films, this will be for you.Previously a few reviewers have noticed bad remarks, obviously not the best reviewers since this movie WAS nominated for 4 separate awards in 2006. The films only falls short of a 10 IMO because of some common HK integrated flaws in the movie, such as a bunch of things happening for no reason and some things not clearly explained, but other than that, its a treat to watch more than once.

Great cinematography and soundtrack. The acting is superb too, and I thought the out-takes at the end were a nice touch. There were parts of the movie that resembled a David Lean production. Five languages spoken in this movie - English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean and (I think) Tamil! The costume design is reminiscent of Roman Army epics which make the columns of soldiers look very majestic - but their Chinese character is also retained. The movie takes part in two time periods - the Qin Dynasty and today. We are transported from one to the other through Jackie Chan's dreams. In the Qin Dynasty he plays the part of a general whose main responsibility is to protect a Korean princess who has been sent to serve as a concubine in the Imperial Chinese Court. Things get in the way of course, and the two time periods are brought together by a weaving of mythology which involves Indian temples and underground tombs at Xian. Well worth watching - but if you are not used to the genre you may find some aspects a little far fetched.
