The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.

If you like to be scared, if you like to laugh, and if you like to learn a thing or two at the movies, this absolutely cannot be missed.

Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.

The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

Going into this movie, I was sure that it's gonna below average. But didn't really think that it would suck so terribly. I was going along with the below average material I have been shown on screen. There are two twists. One comes towards the end of the movie which was unexpected. We'll come back to that later. The other one was that I was thinking it to be a rip off of "The Ring" (2002) but it revealed itself to be a rip off of "I Know What You Did Last Summer" (1997). That's a "great" twist, man. Even there's a cheesy and cringe-worthy line acknowledging it. From the start, I was sure that it would be just a ghost haunting down story rather than a real horror with terrifying stuffs. I got that. It was what I expected and wasn't a disappointment. It has a some clichéd horror plot devices used in the most obviously convenient way. Also, there's a forced and equally clichéd romance of a horror movie. Also, the movie about a nun. Okay, I understand why she's all after killing her murderers. But why was the character so insane? Since the movie about the nun, wouldn't it be better if you establish the character with much more depth than what we saw? Apart from this it takes "anything can happen in a horror movie because it's a horror movie" thing a little too seriously. I mean, every single major plot point is appears at the crucial moment without any build-up. Finally, the ending. Before this, whatever that was going on wasn't so interesting but it was making sense in whatever the hell it was. The final twist ruins a movie which was barely holding up. You show that the nun and Eve were some kind of split personality? I mean what was with all those watering stuff before all those people died? And when Eve's mother was killed by the nun, who was Eve herself, then how were her fingerprints not found? So, it wasn't enough to rip off one movie, you try to make it "Fight Club" (1999) in the end? This is one of those epic and totally unexpected twists which completely ruins a movie. On the whole, it was a nonsensical movie and was a waste time. It gets an "E" and a "1.7/10".

Directed by Luis de la Madrid and produced by Brian Yuzna's Spanish label Fantastic Factory, The Nun is a modestly budgeted, reasonably effective horror that starts off like a supernatural I Know What You Did Last Summer (the '97 slasher is even referenced in this movie), but ends with a neat psychological twist. It's by no means perfect, suffering from some iffy CGI effects and a few dodgy performances from its largely European cast, but it does deliver in terms of creepy atmosphere, and benefits from a couple of fun, gory death scenes.The story, by Jaume Balagueró (The Darkness), sees a young woman, Eve (Anita Briem), travelling to Spain with her friends Julia (Belén Blanco) and Joel (Alistair Freeland) after she witnesses her mother being murdered by a ghostly nun. In Barcelona, Eve searches for clues to help her understand what happened, her investigation leading to the now closed Catholic boarding school attended by her mother 18 years earlier. As she delves deeper into the mystery, Eve begins to suspect that her mother was killed by the vengeful spirit of Sister Ursula, a strict nun at the school who disappeared shortly before its closure.With the ghostly nun only appearing in water, there is quite a lot of not-quite-convincing digital trickery involved, but the nun herself is suitably scary looking, and kills off her victims in some satisfyingly inventive ways, the best being a fatal elevator ride (the lift severing the victim's arms) and a decapitation by falling sheet of glass. Other less memorable deaths include a slashed throat, an impalement on a broken pipe, and the crucifixion of a woman with big hooters and a gimpy leg (the Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away).5.5 out of 10, rounded up to 6 for IMDb.

"So let me get this straight, are you trying to tell me that all this is some sort of I Know What You Did 18 Summers Ago or something?"Sister Ursula(Cristina Piaget), murdered by her students and thrown in the pond near the Catholic school she taught them, returns in watery form to kill those who took her life 18 years later when the watering hole that was her place of rest is dried out by the Thermal Heating Spa planning to place their site there. Each now-adult student of Ursula's is killed in the form of the portrait of their patron saint counterparts hanging on the wall in the school which was shut down after the nun's disappearance. Eve(Anita Briem)finds her mom's throat being slit by the liquefied nun as Ursula flees out the window. It's Eve's new mission to find the other students who attended with her mom in the hopes of understanding what exactly has spurned the events taking place. She doesn't exactly understand what her mother and those students did one day many years ago and finds that each person who partook in Ursula's demise die in various gruesome ways, most right before her eyes. Eve receives assistance from a seminary student, Gabriel(Manu Fullola)with past emotional baggage of his own, when she travels to Barcelona with her high school chums looking for answers. They will make their way to the closed-down school as Eve meets with the two remaining students left alive as the nun plans to finish her quest.If one can look past the hokey premise, and terrible explanation of who the nun is by dufus Joel(Alistair Freeland), then there's some good, inspired moments in this flick. The watery nun creation is obviously more than inspired by the Ring's Samara, but she is quite a creepy concoction Yuzna and company's Fantastic Factory have come up with. Lots of gruesome decapitations such as one woman's arms being sliced off by an elevator and one woman's head being sheared off by a sliding piece of broken window glass. Anita Briem is merely okay as the heroine, but most of the cast have a hard time combating the English language. The production values are surprisingly good for a flick such as this and it's stylishly photographed. It's a glossy bad movie, but one that at least leaves somewhat an impression. The ending, as silly as it's explained, is marred with an unsatisfying resolution.

this movie has joined a plethora of amazingly horrible horror flicks on my shelf.it's so bad that it's good. that being said, when i'm rich and famous my friend and i are so remaking this movie...and i'm so going to be the nun for halloween next year.yeah, this movie is going up there with bones, crazy lips, uzumaki and any other awesomely bad Chinese/Japanese/korean/thai horror flicks i've seen, cheerleading camp, and every other horrible horror movie out there.yay horror films, yay nuns!
